Italian appointed to head Lancia's design department

Lancia announces appointment of Gianni Colonello as Head of DesignJean-Pierre Ploué, Chief Design Officer of Stellantis. This appointment marks a significant step in the brand's evolution as it strives to redefine its image and strengthen its position in the European automotive market.

Gianni Colonello, a well-known figure in the automotive industry, has been responsible for Lancia's interior design from 2021 to 2024. During this period, he was instrumental in defining the brand's new design language. His expertise was instrumental in creating the interiors of the new Ypsilon, the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept, and the entire new range of the Italian brand.

Before joining Lancia, Colonello held the position of Head of Interior Design at Maserati from 2012 to 2021. During this period, he oversaw the development of concept and production cars for the Trident brand, contributing to several iconic Maserati models.

Colonello's career path is also marked by international experience. From 2011 to 2012, he worked at FCA North America's Design Center. as Lead Designer, located in Metro Detroit, Michigan. Prior to that, he began his career in 2002 at Fiat Auto, where he held various positions within the Design Center, rising through the ranks and taking on increasingly important responsibilities.

Gianni Colonello's appointment comes at a strategic time for Lancia, which is back with a new range: the Ypsilon, which will gradually reach European markets in 2024, the Ypsilon HF in 2025, the Gamma in 2026 and the Delta in 2028.
