A new Alfa Romeo Giulia has just entered the competition with a 4-cylinder engine tuned to 430 ch and a GTA-inspired look

Despite a ten-year run, despite a V6 Quadrifoglio version and a devilish GTA version, the’Alfa Romeo Giulia did not have an official racing career. Much to the chagrin of Alfa Romeo fans, it was unable to continue the legacy of the 155 V6 Ti DTM and the 156 WTCC. Yet its formidable chassis would have been a force to be reckoned with on the track…

Never mind—a group of determined enthusiasts defied the odds by entering Alfa Romeo Giulia cars in races. We had already come across a few of them in South Africa, in Belgium, at the Nürburgring as well as in the Alfa Romeo UK Championship. Barry McMahon continues to race a Giulia there, but he’s no longer the only one! Jon Berry has just joined him, entering a Giulia Veloce since the start of the 2026 season in the class Modified.

GTAm Look

The project actually started with a stock Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce, equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 280 ch. The car’s interior was stripped of all non-essential elements and then fitted with an aerodynamic kit and carbon-fiber bodywork: the entire front end (bumper, grille, hood) is now made of carbon fiber, as are the trunk area and wheel arches. The front bumper, in fact, echoes the design of the GTAm’s and features an imposing horizontal splitter. The massive rear wing is reminiscent of DTM sedans.

As for the mechanical modifications, all we know is that a larger turbocharger has been installed, boosting this Veloce to 430 ch, along with a custom exhaust system that produces a truly amazing sound!

A promising start

At Donington, the Veloce qualified 7th and finished 7th in the first race, then 5th in the second race (4th in the Modified class). It faces stiff competition in the Modified class against McMahon’s Giulia, Toby Broome’s 4C Revs Italia, Jack Berry’s 4C Workshop, and Thwaites’ Giulietta TCR!
