The Alfa Romeo Giulia marks the Italian brand's return to the premium sports sedan segment. Introduced in 2015 and available from 2016, it is based on the Giorgio platform, designed to enhance driving pleasure.

With its rear-wheel drive architecture (or Q4 all-wheel drive), the Giulia stands up to the German benchmarks, while offering assertive Italian styling and driving dynamics recognized as one of the best in its class.

The Quadrifoglio version represents the top of the range, with a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo V6 engine that makes the Giulia a true sports car.

📅 2017 🛣️ 110,000 km ⚙️ 2.2L Diesel, 210 ch
I bought this used Giulia Veloce Q4 in 2020 with only 14,000 km on it. Today, it has 110,000 km on the odometer, the vast majority of which were driven on the highway, and I can say that it’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned.

What's most surprising after seven years is how well it has aged. The seats, leather, plastics, seals, and controls are all remarkably well-preserved. There are no noticeable squeaks, and no parts have come loose or become sticky, as is sometimes the case with certain competitors.

Of course, the Giulia isn't perfect. Its multimedia system is showing its age, the lack of Apple CarPlay on the early models is noticeable, and the rearview camera seems outdated by today's standards. The driver-assistance features also lagged behind those of German cars of the time.

Mechanically speaking, the overall assessment is very positive. Apart from a few minor electronic issues related to moisture around the body computer and an occasional engine warning that never recurred, the car proved to be reliable. The engine, the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, the suspension, and the Q4 all-wheel drive system did not cause any major problems.

But what really sets it apart is the driving pleasure. Even after 110,000 km, the steering is incredibly precise, the chassis remains a model of balance, and the 210 ch are more than enough to have a blast. With every drive, it reminds you why the Giorgio platform has become the gold standard.

I'm selling it today only because I want to upgrade to a more powerful version. Otherwise, I'd keep it without a second thought.

I fell for the Giulia Veloce Q4 after owning a 2012 Giulietta QV, and it's really a step up (even though I loved my Giulietta).

What can I say?

The car is both comfortable and sharp on the road, and the chassis and handling seem quite complicated to fault, especially in four-wheel drive.

Technophiles will criticize its unostentatious multimedia, but aficionados of driving and driving pleasure will love it.

With the ZF8 gearbox, it's a car that can sometimes be forgotten and sometimes impose its presence, depending on driving style and road conditions, much to my delight!

📅 2016 🛣️ 45,000 km ⚙️ 2.0L petrol 200 hp
after owning several alfa romeos, including a 159 just before this alfa romeo giulia, i've been very satisfied with this car. i had it from late 2016 to early 2020, and i have nothing but fond memories of it, with 45,000 km behind the wheel. i had no particular problems, the car behaves dynamically and is very pleasant to drive. You might think that the 200 hp engine isn't very powerful compared with what's available today, but bear in mind that this is a 1.5-ton car, with 200 hp, rear-wheel drive and an 8-speed ZF gearbox. It's very dynamic! I recommend it.

📅 2017 🛣️ 100,000 km ⚙️ 2.2 Diesel 150 ch
I bought my Giulia with 20,000 km on the odometer as a gift for my 30th birthday. Today, it has 100,000 km on the odometer, and we’ve driven nearly 80,000 km together in two and a half years. I had previously owned a BMW 3 Series that I drove until it reached 300,000 km, and I can say without a doubt that the Giulia has reignited my love of driving.

At first, I chose it for its design. Then, when I discovered its Giorgio platform, its chassis, and its handling, I was completely won over. Its main strength is clearly its driving pleasure: ultra-precise steering, excellent balance, and a driving experience you rarely find in a modern sedan.

The 150 ch diesel isn't exactly a powerhouse, but paired with the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, it feels much more powerful than it actually is. As for fuel economy, I get between 16.5 and 17 km/l (about 6 l/100 km) on country roads and the highway.

It's not all perfect. The first Giulia models may experience a few minor electrical issues, and the anti-theft protection could be improved. The interiors are also less technologically advanced than those of German cars from the same era.

Despite that, I have absolutely no regrets about my purchase. Better yet: my next car will probably be... another Giulia.
