The Fiat 500 (2020) marks a new generation for Fiat's iconic Italian city car. Officially presented on March 4, 2020 in Milan, it will initially be an exclusively electric model, before the arrival of a hybrid version at the end of 2025. Unlike the previous generation, launched in 2007, the new 500 is based on a completely new platform developed for electric vehicles. With its design faithful to the spirit of the historic Nuova 500, its modern technology and its electric and then hybrid powertrains, the Fiat 500 becomes one of Stellantis' strategic models in Europe.

⚙️ 500th
After a year and about 12,000 km behind the wheel of my Fiat 500e, I can say that I don't regret my purchase. It's a car with a lot of charm. Its design never fails to make an impression, and it often turns heads. You can tell it has a real personality, which is becoming rare these days.
It’s a real pleasure to drive on a daily basis. It’s responsive, quiet, and perfect for city driving. I also really appreciate the 11 kW home charging, which lets me quickly recharge the battery. For long trips, fast charging does the job as well.
On the other hand, not everything is perfect. My main complaint is about the paint. After just one year, it scratches easily, and some areas are already showing signs of wear that I find unusual for such a new car. I’ve also noticed a few minor imperfections in the interior, and the build quality isn’t always up to the standard one might expect.
The multimedia system works well but isn't the fastest on the market. And in traffic jams, regenerative braking can sometimes make the ride a little jerky, with a few jolts when slowing down.
Despite these flaws, it’s a car I always enjoy driving. It has character, it’s economical to run, and it stands out in a world full of soulless electric SUVs. If I had to do it all over again, I’d probably buy it again, even though I’d like to see Fiat improve certain finishing touches.

I've only had my Fiat 500e for two weeks, so it's still a little too early to draw any definitive conclusions, but my first impressions are very positive. I was driving a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 before, and despite the difference in vehicle class, I'm pleasantly surprised by this little Fiat.
What I like most is its compact size. In the city, it’s much easier to maneuver and park than my old electric SUV. I also really like the multimedia system’s interface and the overall ergonomics. Everything feels pretty intuitive and pleasant to use on a daily basis.
I chose the black version with red side mirrors and a red dashboard—a combination that gives it a lot of personality. It's a car that really stands out.
So far, I haven't encountered any mechanical or electronic problems. My only minor issue is a body panel that's slightly misaligned, but the dealership has already scheduled a service appointment to fix it.
I also use the Fiat app, which works pretty well. Most of the connected services are included for several years, which is nice. I was surprised to find that the car needed to be connected to my home Wi-Fi to receive certain updates.
As for drawbacks, I’m still looking for certain features I had on my ID.4, particularly the ability to easily set a charging limit to 80 % to preserve the battery. It might be there, but I haven’t found it yet. I’ve also forgotten to turn off the car several times when getting out, since the process is different from what I was used to.
After just a few weeks, the overall impression is very positive. The Fiat 500e is a charming little electric car that’s a pleasure to drive and well-suited for everyday use. It remains to be seen how it will perform over the long term.

I've owned a 2022 Fiat 500e La Prima for a little over a year, and I have absolutely no regrets about my choice. I’ve always loved the design of the Fiat 500, and this electric version retains all its charm while offering performance far superior to that of the gas-powered models. Its acceleration is brisk and quiet, making every trip a real pleasure.
For everyday use, it’s the perfect car for the city. It’s very easy to park thanks to its compact size, while offering more interior space than you might expect. Even the trunk can easily hold a week’s worth of groceries for two people. My dog also rides comfortably in the back seat.
The range meets my expectations, at about 265 km on a full charge. After more than a year of use, I haven't noticed any significant decline in battery performance or range. The car has had no reliability issues to date.
The in-car technology is also a highlight. Wireless Apple CarPlay works flawlessly, wireless smartphone charging is convenient, and the mobile app lets you lock or unlock the vehicle remotely, as well as preheat the cabin before departure. Fast charging is available, though I rarely use it since charging at home more than covers my needs.
In terms of operating costs, the 500e is particularly economical. Since it is charged primarily at home using solar panels, its operating costs are extremely low. The absence of gasoline, engine noise, and odors also contributes to its comfort.
A few details could be improved. The lumbar support on the front seats lacks adjustability, and this La Prima version did not have heated seats. I also would have appreciated a sunroof that actually opens, rather than just a fixed glass roof.
Despite these few caveats, the Fiat 500e is one of the best small electric cars I’ve driven. Its timeless style, driving pleasure, and low cost of ownership make it a particularly appealing city car. So much so that switching back to a gas-powered car now feels like taking a step backward.

⚙️ Fiat 500e Icon 42 kWh
I bought this used Fiat 500e Icon about 3 months ago. It had just under 30,000 km on the odometer, and today I'm really happy with my choice.
Basically, I was looking for a reliable car to replace several used gas-powered cars that had caused me quite a few mechanical problems. After comparing several electric models (Renault Zoe, Peugeot e-208, Hyundai Kona), it was ultimately the Fiat 500e that won me over thanks to its value for money and low mileage.
I mainly use it for my commute, which is about 230 km per week. With the 42 kWh battery, I get between 270 and 280 km of real-world range, which means I only need to charge once a week. Since I can charge at work, it’s extremely convenient.
What I like most is its compact size. It parks anywhere, weaves easily through city traffic, and is a pleasure to drive. "Sherpa" mode is perfect for my daily use, and the one-pedal driving system makes it really comfortable. I also appreciate how simple the controls are: everything is clear, intuitive, and easy to use.
When it comes to running costs, there’s no contest. Between the electricity and the lack of unexpected mechanical expenses, it costs me significantly less than my old gas-powered cars. As a chef, I sometimes finish work late at night, and I also find driving much less tiring than with a gas-powered car.
Obviously, it's not perfect. I'd like a little more range so I can enjoy the weekend with complete peace of mind without having to worry about an extra charge. The back seats are a bit cramped for adults, and the trunk is really small when you need to carry bulky items. For two people in everyday use, this isn’t a problem, but it’s something to keep in mind before buying.
All in all, this Fiat 500e is a perfect fit for my needs. It’s fuel-efficient, comfortable, easy to drive, and has a look that’s sure to turn heads. For everyday city driving, I’d recommend it without hesitation.
