Two years. That's how long it took this customer to finally receive his Pagani Utopia Roadster. In photos shared by content creator Fipeux on Instagram and in a video posted on YouTube, we see one of the very first examples of the Italian hypercar being unloaded from its transport truck before hitting the road, watched by a few enthusiasts who had come to witness this very special moment.
The scene is almost solemn. The butterfly doors open, the final protective covers are removed, and the owner takes his place behind the wheel. Moments later, the AMG twin-turbo V12 roars to life, and the Utopia Roadster quietly pulls away, marking the culmination of a project that began several years ago.
A hypercar designed from the outset as a roadster
Officially unveiled in July 2024, two years after the Utopia Coupé, the Utopia Roadster is not simply a convertible version. Unlike the previous Zonda Roadster and Huayra Roadster, this version was developed in parallel with the coupe from the very start of the project. This approach allowed Pagani to maintain the same dry weight of just 1,280 kg thanks to a completely redesigned chassis that incorporates more than forty types of composite materials, including Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62.
Aesthetically, it embodies all the hallmarks of the Utopia with its four central exhaust pipes, circular taillights, and styling inspired by both aeronautics and classic Italian design. Pagani even offers three configurations: with a glass hardtop, as a fully convertible, or with a fabric top stored in a luggage compartment specifically designed to fit behind the seats.
Hidden beneath the carbon-fiber bodywork is the spectacular 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG exclusively for Pagani. It delivers 864 ch and 1,100 Nm of torque, without any hybrid assistance. Customers can choose between an AMT automated manual transmission or a spectacular seven-speed manual transmission by Xtrac, whose metal grille reveals the entire mechanism—a feature that has become one of the Utopia’s hallmarks.
It was worth the wait
The images in this feature perfectly illustrate the exclusive nature of the Utopia Roadster. Each car is fully customized to the owner’s specifications, making each of the 130 planned units a one-of-a-kind piece. Priced starting at 3.1 million euros before taxes, the Italian hypercar is as much a rolling work of art as it is a high-performance machine. For this owner, the two-year wait is now over. And judging by the images from this first test drive, it’s hard not to think that every day spent waiting must have vanished the moment the accelerator was pressed.
