In these times of ecological transition, Maserati, the prestigious Italian automotive brand, faces a major challenge in the French market. Environmental legislation, in particular the crushing ecological malus which will reach a peak of €60,000 in 2024, has had a major impact on the brand's sales in France. In 2023, Maserati recorded just 187 units solda drastic fall attributable to the absence of rechargeable electric models (PHEV) in its range.

However, the tide may be turning for the manufacturer with the Trident. Maserati has just launched two all-electric models: the Granturismo Folgore and the Grecale Folgore. These new models are not only on a par with the competition, but could even surpass it in terms of performance and price. All-electric, these vehicles are exempt from environmental taxes, a considerable advantage in the French market.

According to our sources, Maserati has big ambitions for 2024, aiming to quadruple sales to 900 units. This target is particularly ambitious, given that Maserati's sales record in France dates back to 2016, with 732 vehicles sold, a success largely due to the launch of the Levante SUV.

The Grecale Folgore, a 100 % electric SUV priced from €123,000, could play a key role in this strategy. This model is likely to attract both private and business customers, thanks to its zero environmental impact, its performance and its brand image.

Referring to Porsche's success in 2022 with the sale of 614 Taycans, its only 100 % electric model, in France, Maserati has every reason to be optimistic. The Italian brand is counting on its new electric models to revitalize its presence on the French market, and can keep its combustion models for markets where the malus is still bearable or even non-existent.

2024 promises to be a turning point for Maserati in France. With its new electric models, the brand is aligning itself with current ecological trends. It remains to be seen whether these ambitions will be transformed into tangible commercial success, as no luxury brand has yet really entered the market of the 100 % electric car... a success that will have to wait and see. the launch of the electric Quattroporte. ?

  1. At the same time, when you start from the ground, it's easier to climb!
All we have to do now is see if the mayonnaise takes off, and if the customers are there,

I look forward to your test drive of the GranTurismo Folgore 😉

  2. It will be interesting to see if powerful, luxurious electric Maseratis find customers.
This will even be useful information for future electric Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio models.

  3. Objective just to please tavares and the shareholders. Of course, I could be wrong (I even hope I am), but I don't believe it for 1 second.
