2 weeks after its unveiling, the Kimera K39, inspired by a Lancia from the 80s, already seen at Monaco

Barely two weeks after its worldwide revelation at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, the spectacular Kimera K39 has already left the podiums to hit the road. And not just anywhere: it was in the streets of Monaco, at last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, that the Italian hypercar was first spotted on the road.

The images, shot at night on the Rock, show the new creation by Kimera Automobili in the middle of Monegasque traffic. With its endurance prototype proportions, huge rear spoiler and circular light signature, the K39 was an instant eye-catcher. An appearance that did not go unnoticed by the enthusiasts on hand.

A hypercar already in the hands of its first customer?

According to several reports on social networks, the man behind the wheel was Raul Marchisio. A well-known name in the Monegasque automotive world. A former rally driver turned successful entrepreneur, he now runs Monaco-based RM Autosport, a company specializing in prestige cars. His personal collection and supercar activities have enabled him to build a real reputation on the Rock.

If confirmed, Raul Marchisio could be the very first owner of a Kimera K39. A credible hypothesis, given that more than twenty examples of the hypercar have already found buyers, even before its official presentation. This Monegasque appearance takes on a special dimension. While most newly unveiled hypercars remain in workshops or test centers for several months, the K39 already appears to be running in real-life conditions, offering the public a first dynamic glimpse of this extraordinary machine.

The modern heir to the Italian monsters of the '80s

Presented on May 16, the Kimera K39 marks a major turning point for the small Italian manufacturer based in Piedmont. After building its reputation with the EVO37 and EVO38, modern reinterpretations of the legendary Lancia Rally 037, Kimera has now decided to create a completely new car.

Its design is openly inspired by the Italian competition cars of the 80s. There are references to the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo and the World Endurance Championship prototypes of the time. Its huge rear diffuser, oversized side air intakes and highly refined aerodynamics give it the look of a road-legal Le Mans car.

In Monaco, under the Principality's night-time lighting and neon lights, this silhouette seems almost unreal. The photos and videos captured over the last few days show a car faithful to the promise of the concept unveiled at Villa d'Este: spectacular, aggressive and deeply rooted in the heritage of Italian motorsport.

A 1000-horsepower Koenigsegg V8 on the streets of Le Rocher

What makes the K39 even more extreme is, of course, its powertrain. Kimera has forged an unexpected partnership with Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg to equip its hypercar with a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 specially adapted for the project.

The result is impressive: 1,000 hp at 7,350 rpm, 1,200 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm and a maximum revs of 8,250 rpm. Unlike most modern hypercars, the K39 doesn't rely on hybridization to achieve this performance. The sight of such an engine on the narrow streets of Monaco, just a few days after its official unveiling, is already a foretaste of Kimera's planned world tour. Goodwood, Monterey, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans Classic are all on the agenda.
