Fiat continues to modernize its catalog with designed to meet current trends and expectations. After the launch of the Fiat 500e in 2020, and the arrival of the the Fiat Grande Panda in 2024the manufacturer is preparing an ambitious future for 2025. Two new models are among those expected: a Fiat inspired by the famous Multipla, also known as the "Giga Panda".and an all-new Fastback SUV. The latter, according to initial interpretations, could be positioned as the Italian cousin of the recent Citroën Basalt.
Replicating the success of the Brazilian model
In Brazil, a Fiat Fastback has already been available since 2022, and has established itself as both a stylish and practical vehicle, attracting a broad base of enthusiasts with over 40,000 units sold by 2023. Its success in this market, combined with Fiat's desire to produce models on a global scale rather than just a regional one, has given the Italian manufacturer some ideas.
New Fiat SUV Fastback: a Youtuber's interpretation
The famous YouTuber Mahboub 1, renowned for his automotive renderings, recently proposed his vision of what the new model might look like. Drawing on the lines of the Fiat Grande Panda and the Citroën Basalt, Mahboub 1 imagined an SUV with robust, dynamic forms that remained faithful to Fiat's visual identity while at the same time fitting into the world of modern SUVs. His rendering, although speculative, incorporates styling elements such as a wide grille, taut lines and a sloping profile typical of fastback SUVs, giving the Fiat Fastback a sporty, elegant appearance.
STLA Smart platform and hybrid and electric options
This future SUV will be built on the STLA Smart platform, the same as that of the Fiat Grande Panda, allowing flexibility in terms of powertrain. Fiat could offer this model in thermal hybrid versionandin 100 % electric version. This duality of engines will enable Fiat to respond to different market needs
Production of this model is scheduled to take place at the Stellantis plant in Kenitra, Morocco, where Fiat Topolino, Citroën AMI and Peugeot 208 thermic models are already produced.
How can I put it... It's very special, but it's a change from the ordinary. If it's anything like this.
Otherwise, I'll always wonder why FIAT has never replicated its MERCOSUR range in Europe. And it has nothing to do with Stellantis, because for many years now, South American FIATs have been much more stylish than ours, and their range is much richer.
For example, in Brazil: Argo, 500, Pulse, Chronos, Mobi, Strada, Titanos, Toro, Fastback, Fiorino, Scudo, Ducato, and I'll skip the Abarth variants...
Admittedly, many of these cars are derived from European models that don't exist or no longer do, but they benefit from dynamic design and are regularly updated. Frankly, it's quite funny that a manufacturer's foreign range is more desirable than its range on home soil.
The blue version is a sort of mini Ford Capri, which I like, but the lower front bumper needs a bit of work.
Apparently, in a bid to save money, Tavares has put his grandchildren in charge of the design office. Ah no he's a Youtuber... yet it would be possible 🙄
