Faced with a growing demand for hybrid cars in France (+30 % in 2021), Fiat launches (finally) the hybrid version of its small SUV 500X with a new motorization that is finally not unknown.
With more than 750,000 sales worldwide since its launch in the compact SUV market in 2014, the Fiat 500X finally benefits from a long-awaited hybrid powertrain.
And this engine is not unknown! It is the 1.5L GSE (or firefly for those who know) in a 130 hp version with a small 48V electric motor, the same as on the entry-level version of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale.
This new hybrid engine has two main advantages: fuel consumption and CO2 are down to 11 % compared with the diesel engine: 5.1 L/100 km compared with 5.4 L/100 km for the 1.6 diesel engine. It is also possible to cover short distances in 100 % electric (traffic jams, parking, etc.). The 0 to 100 km/h is assured in 9,4 sec...
The price of the Fiat 500X hybrid starts at 26 790 €.
Model | Gasoline 1.0L 120 hp | Gasoline hybrid 1.5L 130 hp | Diesel 1.6L 130 hp |
---|---|---|---|
Fiat 500X Red | 22 290 € | 26 790 € | |
Fiat 500X Sport | 23 790 € | 28 290 € | 28 290 € |
Fiat 500X Sport pack | 25 290 € | 29 790 € | 29 790 € |
Fiat 500X Sport plus | 31 290 € | 31 290 € |
Concerning the ecological malusFor example, the Fiat 500X Sport with a hybrid engine emits 133 g of CO2 per km, will only cost 170 € TTC in 2022.
This will extend the life of the model for a few more years, but it will surely have trouble passing the one million sales mark.
Some more pictures of the 500X hybrid to finish.
We'll have to see if the announced fuel savings are really there... Otherwise, a four-cylinder seems to me to be better balanced and more adapted for a model of this size than the three-cylinder FCA or PSA.
