In the world of luxury automobiles and performance, Maserati is in a class of its own. A recent announcement raised a wave of questions: the postponement of the launch of the new Levante and Quattroporte, initially scheduled for 2025, to 2027 and 2028 respectively. Today, the mystery is cleared up thanks to an explanation from Maserati CEO Davide Grasso, who promises with the new Quattroporte a revolution on four wheelss.

The decision to postpone the launch of these iconic models was not taken lightly. Maserati, with its forward-looking vision, has chosen to redefining the very concept of the Quattroporte. "The new Maserati Quattroporte has been redesigned to be unique," says Grasso. This bold choice is part of a commitment to completely rethink the project, in order to guarantee a product that is not only of the highest quality, but also distinctive in today's automotive panorama.

Maserati's CEO shared his vision in an interview with La Repubblica, revealing the strategic thinking behind the decision. "We conducted an in-depth analysis of the automotive market, noting rapid and radical changes," he explains. The rise of SUVs and crossovers, combined with the decline of traditional sedans, led Maserati to consider a new approach for its legendary Quattroporte.

Grasso underlines Maserati's ambition to transcend the notion of the traditional luxury sedan. "Our aim is to create a revolutionary car that redefines the concept of luxury," he asserts. This statement arouses intense curiosity: what form will the new Quattroporte take? Will we see the emergence a new kind of vehicle, halfway between sedan, crossover and coupé, similar to what the future Alfa Romeo Giulia promises ?

By choosing to rethink the Quattroporte from top to bottom, the Trident brand is reinventing itself, promising its customers an unrivalled electric luxury car experience. We sincerely hope that, this time, the right choices will be made to put the brand back on the luxury car track. In the meantime, we'll have to wait a few more years.

  1. In 2 words, the project for a Quattroporte in 2 different dimensions has fallen through.... This doesn't bode well for the future, and we can already forget China, which is fond of this kind of traditional model!!!!

  2. Maserati and Alfa Romeo are abandoning sedans for SUVs (or crossovers), and going electric to boot.
I don't think enthusiasts of these brands want to drive electric SUVs.

  3. PSA, now Stellantis, has always shot down brands other than Peugeot. Citroën is well on the way to abandoning hydropneumatic suspension, Matra Talbot and Simca. They're not going to dare put their crappy engines in Alfa or Maserati, although idiots will dare anything, so why not a Maserati with a 1.2 puretech engine or a crappy 1.6 mle too?

  4. The European automotive industry is in a state of meltdown, and unfortunately our beloved Italians are no exception. A scuttling of our own industry in order... while we wait for the Chinese to launch their innumerable brands...
