Lamborghini will offer a V12 for as long as possible, says CEO

At a time of electrification of the automotive industry, and with it the disappearance of internal combustion engine know-how for certain automakers, Lamborghini stands out for its commitment to V12 engines. At the Beijing Motor Show, Stephan Winkelmann, head of the prestigious Sant'Agata Bolognese brand, reiterated the brand's attachment to its iconic engines.

Winkelmann was categorical: "As long as it is possible, we will continue to offer twelve-cylinder engines." This commitment is currently reflected in in the Revueltotheir latest creation, which carries the V12 torch high. "We want to maintain this iconic engine for as long as combustion engines are on the road," added Winkelmann.

The conversation also touched on the future of the Huracán. Although Winkelmann was discreet about the definitive name of the successor, he did confirm that the vehicle would bear a name from the bullfighting tradition. The new model could be called "Temerario".named after a famous Mexican fighting bull.

The anticipated technical specifications reveal a V8 twin-turbo hybrid engine, borrowed from the new URUS SEand presentation is scheduled for the second half of the year, potentially at Monterey Car Week in California. "Everything is ready for the launch," says Winkelmann.

On the wider future of the automotive industry, Winkelmann shared his thoughts on the upcoming European elections and their potential impact. "We'll see what happens," he said, suggesting that while the 2035 and 2036 dates for the energy transition might be open to discussion, the basic strategies would remain unchanged.

Lamborghini plans dual strategy The Urus and a fourth model could be electric, like the Lanzador conceptfor supercars such as the Revuelto and the successor to the Huracán, the brand is planning a new hybrid phase and, if possible, the use of synthetic fuels.

In the same vein as Ferrari, Lamborghini is determined to preserve a place for its legendary and efficient V12s for as long as the law allows in the various countries where its models are sold, while developing alternative solutions such as the 100 % electric and synthetic fuels.
