At first glance, it's hard to tell the difference. This Ferrari 296 GTS looks like it just came out of the Ferrari. And yet, it has passed into the hands of Novitec, a recognized specialist in top-of-the-range preparations of Italian supercars. Unlike some tuners who focus on exuberance (Mansory, Venuum...), Novitec remains faithful to a very specific philosophy: to sublimate without distorting. As a result, this 296 GTS adopts an almost discreet approach, to the point where only the most attentive will notice that it is not a strictly original model.
Clues to preparation
So where do the changes lie? It's all in the details. The changes mainly concern the aerodynamic elements: new front, side and rear skirts. Sharper and slightly more aggressive, they remain perfectly integrated into the original design.
These additions are made from carbon fibre, a logical choice both for their weight and for their clear motorsport inspiration. The rest of the body remains faithful to the standard version, reinforcing the impression of sobriety.
The visual configuration also plays a key role. The iconic red is subtly contrasted by black accents, while hand-applied yellow accents highlight the rocker panels. The same yellow is found on the brake calipers and the logos of the famous prancing horse, creating an elegant visual harmony without going overboard.
Revamped sound, but no revolution
While the styling has evolved with finesse, the mechanics have not been totally neglected. Novitec has equipped this 296 GTS with a new sports exhaust, accompanied by specific tailpipes still positioned in the center of the rear diffuser. The aim is not to radically transform the car, but to enrich the sound experience. The hybrid V6 gains in character, with a more expressive acoustic signature, without losing its DNA.
Still an 830-hp supercar
Under the hood, we find the already impressive base of the Ferrari 296 GTS. Its electrified V6 develops a total of 830 hp and 740 Nm of torque. Enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. Although Novitec did not provide precise figures, the exhaust system could provide a slight performance boost. But then again, that's not the heart of the project: the objective remains balance, not overkill.
The interior remains virtually unchanged, with beige leather enhanced by red accents and numerous carbon inserts. A logical extension of the project's overall approach.
One question remains: do you prefer the purity of an original Ferrari, or this subtly optimized version that plays on nuance rather than rupture?
