Ferrari F80: what you need to know about the most powerful road-going Ferrari of all time

Ferrari has struck a major blow in the world of hypercars with its presentation of the F80. Already announced as the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever produced, this machine embodies the pinnacle of engineering and technology from the Prancing Horse marque. Thanks to a skilful blend of extreme performance, cutting-edge aerodynamics and technologies borrowed from racing, the F80 promises to leave its mark on automotive history. Here's a look at the numbers that make this Ferrari a must-have.

Unprecedented power and breathtaking performance

Under the hood, the Ferrari F80 combines two engine systems to deliver a total of 1,200 horsepower. It is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, which alone develops 900 hp, combined with a hybrid system inspired by the Ferrari 499P, two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This hybrid system, with its "e-turbo" technology, provides extra acceleration at low revs, a concept borrowed directly from Formula 1 racing.

Thanks to this configuration, the F80 explodes records with figures that put it in a class of its own. 0 to 100 km/h is swallowed up in just 2.15 seconds, and 0 to 200 km/h in 5.75 seconds. As for top speed, it reaches 350 km/h, performance worthy of racing circuits, but on the road.

F1 aerodynamics

The Ferrari F80's aerodynamics are another major asset in its record-breaking performance. Nose design, largely inspired by solutions used in Formula 1 racing, features a massive air intake and a S-duct" concept already seen on models such as the Ferrari 488 Pista and 296 Challenge. This system maximizes the flow of air under the car, generating exceptional offset.

Active rear spoiler, coupled with an active suspension and DRS (Drag Reduction System), provides a downforce of over 1000 kg at 250 km/h. This configuration guarantees maximum grip and perfect stability, even at dizzying speeds. The car's flat bottom and low weight (1525 kg) further enhance its aerodynamic appeal.

Radical architecture

One of the distinguishing features of the F80 is its 1+1 design, reminiscent of a Formula 1 single-seater. This streamlined design reduces aerodynamic drag and maximizes performance. The passenger is set back slightly, allowing the driver to enjoy a performance-focused driving experience.

The cockpit offers an immersive feel, with a driver-oriented layout and ultra-light materials. This not only reduces the car's weight, but also immerses the driver in an intense driving experience.

Limited and exclusive

Like all exceptional Ferraris, the F80 will be produced in a limited series of 799 units. Customers who manage to afford this hypercar will have to pay the sum of 3.6 million euros for this concentrate of technology and performance. An exclusivity that reinforces its mythical status right from the start.

With the F80, Ferrari redefines the standards of the road-going hypercar. Powerful, ultra-fast and designed with race-bred solutions, it follows in the footsteps of the F40, F50 and Enzo, while taking engineering to a new level. By combining extreme performance with revolutionary aerodynamic design, the F80 confirms Ferrari's dominance in the world of luxury sports cars.

Why F80?

The Ferrari F40 was in the '80s, the F50 in the '90s, so it makes sense that this car is being released 30 years later as the Ferrari F80. It's also a celebration of Ferrari's 80th anniversary in 2027, when the first real Ferrari, the Ferrari 125 S, was created.

  1. To be seen against the W1, which starts with a 4.0L V8 and has almost the same performance on paper.

As for the front end, I don't know to what extent aerodynamics dictated the design, but I find it very distinctive. That said, it's quite in keeping with the rest.

  2. Seen this morning in Auto-Moto... Just magnificent.
TheFerrari didn't thrill me stylistically. This one is the complete opposite. It's a marvel.

  3. A quick question for Alexandre: the new Ferrari F80 has a 2992 cm3 V6 exactly like Maserati's MC20.
    Who took the other's engine?

  4. Um motor 3.0 V6 biturbo com mais 3 motores eléctricos muito mais potente que os V12 .... brutal....a aceleração deste carro é simplesmente alucinante
