After months of spyshots, rumors, here is the first supercar Ferrari V6 roadster : the Ferrari 296 GTB ! If you thought the Maserati MC20's 630hp 3.0L V6 was impressive, the 663hp 2.9L V6 Ferrari engine, aided by an electric motor, offers a total of 830hp at 8000rpm.
The design of this Ferrari 296 GTB is not unexpected. A "soft" mix of Roma in the front, SF90 in the back in a compact size.
The engine is a whole new 2.9L V6 at 120This is coupled with an electric motor which, in addition to offering more power, allows for up to 25 km of all-electric driving.
Regarding performance, the 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 2.9 seconds. The 0 to 200 km/h in 7.6 sec. The promise of Ferrari in this new segment of compact sports cars with V6 engines is fun to drive ! (we've already heard that from others).
Another point, Ferrari seems to have succeeded in giving a good sound to its V6where Maserati seems to have failed with its MC20.
The sound of the V6 has been worked on with a special exhaust line. Ferrari is so proud of it that internally they call it a small V12.

No doubt Lamborghini will soon enter this segment with a new production hybrid announced for 2023. And why not one day, an Alfa Romeo 6C cousin of the MC20... There is a place to take under 200 000 €.

V6 for ferrari, mouais... The soul of the brand must absolutely be preserved, I do not think that Ferrari must go further in the hybrid and downsizing. There are heritages that should be preserved in spite of the electric air of time...
With the banning of internal combustion engines in some cities in 2030 or 2035, everyone has to prepare for it and in the end this 296 GTB is positioned on a new segment that did not exist before at Ferrari. Porsche is going, McLaren is going, Maserati is going, Lamborghini is going... brands like Bugatti and Aston Martin will also go. Now, on what scale it will be sold, for which customers... once again, nobody is Mrs. Irma of what the car market will be like in 10 years. But we have to prepare for it. Coming back to the 296 GTB, I think that's why Ferrari insists very strongly on the "fun to drive" aspect to tell the fans "don't worry, it's a v6 hybrid but it's still a Ferrari".
In fact I saw an interview with the director of maseratti. He said that yes, there will be electric and other hybrids, but that there are mechanical heritages and traditions to preserve that will always be linked to particular brands. And Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maseratti and others are the heirs. Porsche wants to go all electric? they will lose a lot of customers. Same for Aston.
