Eccentrica: This modernized Lamborghini Diablo retains its V12 engine and manual transmission, but loses its roof; only 19 units were produced

Almost exactly one year ago to the day, Eccentrica Automobili took advantage of Monterey Car Week to unveil three spectacular versions of its restomod of Lamborghini Diablo : Titano, Rose Phoenix, and Green Dragon. On August 10, 2026, the San Marino-based automaker is opening a new chapter with the Eccentrica V12 Roadster, a convertible version that evokes the Italian supercar of the 1990s even more vividly.

The first images immediately set the tone. With its massive, steeply raked windshield, fully open red cockpit, and V12 engine visible behind the occupants, this new Eccentrica retains the Diablo’s signature silhouette while transporting it into a new era. And as with the coupe, production will be extremely limited: only 19 units are planned.

An open-top Lamborghini Diablo, redesigned by Eccentrica

Eccentrica sums up its new creation in three words: «Emotion, Analog, Legacy.» The Roadster thus remains true to the philosophy behind the project launched by entrepreneur and collector Emanuel Colombini: to modernize the Lamborghini Diablo without stripping it of the very elements that defined its character.

Removing the roof takes this idea even further. With no barrier left between the driver, the V12, and the outside world, Eccentrica promises an experience that is «louder, sharper, and more physical.».

The work carried out, however, goes far beyond a simple cosmetic transformation. The bodywork has been completely reimagined, while the rear features a striking spoiler and reveals part of the mechanical components. The interior, meanwhile, retains a delightfully analog feel, with a manual transmission whose shifter and white knob take center stage.

Still a naturally aspirated V12 with 550 ch

There’s no way we’re giving in to electrification. Behind the two occupants sits the same 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, producing 550 ch at 7,000 rpm, paired with a manual transmission. This powertrain is obviously one of the main attractions of this restomod at a time when naturally aspirated supercars are becoming increasingly rare. Eccentrica also announces extensive work on the chassis, suspension, and braking system to deliver the performance of a modern car without sacrificing the driving experience of the original Diablo.

Sport, Eccentric, or Heritage

As we saw last year with the spectacular Titano, Green Dragon, and Rose Phoenix, customization plays a key role at Eccentrica. Each V12 Roadster can be configured to suit its owner’s tastes, from materials to colors to finishes.

Three themes are available: Sport, geared toward a more radical and effective interpretation; ; Eccentric, designed for the most daring setups; and Heritage, which pays even greater homage to the analog spirit of the Lamborghini Diablo.

This first Eccentrica V12 Roadster, with its very light blue body, white wheels, and spectacular red interior, already shows just how far this concept can go. Thirty-five years after the Lamborghini Diablo debuted, the V12 engine, manual transmission, and open-top design still make for a combination that’s particularly hard to beat.
