The Alfa Romeo Cars prepared by Alfaholics rarely appear on the market. The reason is simple: the cars built by the renowned British specialist are produced in very limited numbers, and their owners very rarely part with them. This time, however, a creation inspired by the Alfaholics philosophy has just gone on sale in the United Kingdom, featuring a particularly meticulous build.
A modified GT Junior with top-of-the-line parts
At first glance, this is a Alfa Romeo GT A 1971 1300 Junior, delivered new in Italy in its elegant Blu Olandese paint scheme with a Cinghiale interior. But beneath this timeless silhouette lies a thoroughly overhauled powertrain.
The project was led by several leading figures in the Alfa Romeo community: Ian Ellis for the engine (an Alfa Romeo engine specialist since 1991), Alfaholics for a large portion of the components, and, more recently, Jenvey for the electronic fuel injection system. The goal was not to create a static classic car, but rather an Alfa Romeo capable of delivering a modern driving experience while preserving the unique character of the 105 series.
At the heart of the conversion is a 2.0-liter Twin Spark engine tuned by Ian Ellis. Originally equipped with carburetors, it now features 45-mm Jenvey throttle bodies, an Emerald electronic control unit, and electronic fuel injection. The result: 188 ch at nearly 6,800 rpm—a power output that completely transforms the handling of this lightweight coupe.
The Alfaholics Recipe
Even though this car isn’t a complete build straight out of the Alfaholics workshops, it largely follows the formula that has made the British company famous. It features numerous parts developed by the specialist: a stainless steel exhaust, cooling system, Twin Spark ignition components, fuel injection parts, adjustable suspension arms, more direct steering, GTAm-style cylinder head covers, custom grilles, and the famous 15-inch GTA wheels.
The suspension hasn't been overlooked, featuring Koni shocks, Eibach springs, and alignment tuned according to Alfaholics' recommendations. The braking system has also been upgraded with a Classic Alfa big-brake kit paired with Ferodo DS2500 brake pads.
Inside, the atmosphere stays true to the spirit of competition without compromising the cabin’s character. Recaro Pole Position bucket seats, an Autodelta roll bar by Alfaholics, Sabelt harnesses, and Stack electronic instrumentation serve as a reminder that this Alfa Romeo was designed, above all, to be driven.
