Alfa Romeo Milano: good news about power?

As an illustration, it won't look like this.

L'Alfa Romeo Milano, the Italian brand's next small SUV, is still the talk of the town. After revealing its name about a week ago, this highly anticipated model will be officially presented in April 2024. The brand's aficionados have expressed some design concerns following image leaks and, also, about its performance. However, recent news may allay their concerns.

The Milano SUV will share its platform with the Jeep Avenger and the Fiat 600, two electric models manufactured at the Tychy plant in Poland. This information raised a number of questions about Alfa Romeo's ability to stand out in terms of performance and style.

When presenting the "Milano" name to Autocar journalists, Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato offered some welcome reassurances. He confirmed that the Milano would be equipped with a 54 kWh battery, similar to that of the Jeep and Fiat. Even more interesting, he revealed that the Milano would have four-wheel drive.

This configuration suggests a second electric motor at the rearlike the Jeep Avenger 4xe prototype. If confirmed, the Milano's power output could jump from 156 hp to around 240 hp. A significant increase that would place the SUV in a much higher performance category.

The CEO insisted that the Milano would be a "true Alfa Romeo", promising to prove this on the Balocco circuit. This statement aims to reassure enthusiasts of the brand's sporting DNA and heritage in this new model.

Finally, the CEO did not rule out the possibility of a Quadrifoglio versionThis suggests that the Milano, although presented as an entry-level model, will not necessarily be inexpensive. This suggests that the Milano, although presented as the entry-level model, will not necessarily be inexpensive. By way of comparison, the 156 hp electric Jeep Avenger currently starts at €38,000. With its second electric motor, the Alfa's starting price could be well above that...

    • I have to say, it wasn't working for me a few days ago.
As for the Milano, the real good news would have been to have a fca combustion engine.

      • As far as combustion engines are concerned, I think we're going to have to get used to it.
But frankly, a good number of car lovers are increasingly appreciating the comfort and silence of electric motors for everyday cars.
        Happy holidays to all.

        • What nonsense!!!

Instead of spouting such nonsense (I'm not surprised when you consider who's behind it) about people appreciating electric cars more and more, you need to come up with concrete proof, and the latest news is that the opposite is true for all brands, whether European, American or Japanese!

There are those who take their own dreams and desires for realities, but are totally off the mark as usual.

      • I couldn't agree with you more. Like BMW, keep the high-performance, sporty petrol line that has made Alfa so legendary and famous.

  1. Maybe the design of the Alfa Romeo Milano won't be so bad, and far from the horror that's been circulating too much.
And maybe the powertrains will be better than advertised, i.e. with more powerful engines.

    • The same goes for me. For this Milano I hope for the most beautiful design (the switch to electric cars for city cars seems inevitable to me) but without any hope, even less when I see the production version of the Ypsilon... Happy holidays to all.

  2. There are car brands that shouldn't be touched, because they're different from other brands because of their impact on the vision of true car enthusiasts, and Alfa Romeo is one of those passion cars that have a soul and a sporting heart. Every time a new Alfa is presented, it's on the verge of contemplation. You don't wait for a new Alfa like you wait for a new Peugeot or anything else. Alfa is Alfa.
