The Italian brand Alfa Romeo confirmed it, The Alfa Romeo Junior Q4, the four-wheel-drive version of the new compact SUV, will be available from 2025. Based on the CMP platform, this variant will deliver performance and technology worthy of Alfa Romeo's sporting heritage. Here's everything we know so far.
A more versatile hybrid SUV
Currently, l'Alfa Romeo Junior is available with two engine options a 136 hp hybrid internal combustion engine and two electric versions with 156 hp or 280 hp, but in traction only. The Q4 version will change all that by offering all-wheel drive, paving the way for an even more dynamic driving experience.
This configuration is not really unknown inspired by the Jeep Avenger 4xe, which uses a hybrid engine combining a 1.2-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine (136 hp) and two 21 kW electric motors on each axle. This technology ensures efficient all-wheel drive on the Jeep, while at the same time for low-speed 100 % electric drivingideal for reducing fuel consumption and emissions in urban environments.
How does the Alfa Romeo perform?
The Jeep Avenger 4xe achieves a combined power output of 136 hp, a top speed of 194 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds. However, this is still less than the Alfa Romeo Ibrida 136 hp, which boasts a top speed of 206 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 8.9 sec. If the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4 uses a similar configuration, it's possible that it could be adjusted to suit Alfa Romeo's sporty DNA. In this way, engineers could optimize the use of electric motors not only to improve driveability, but also to offer more dynamic acceleration and enhanced driving pleasure.
To qhat's the price?
In terms of pricing, the Jeep Avenger 4xe starts at from €32,750This gives a clear indication of the positioning of the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4. With a current price of €29,500 for the 136 hp hybrid version, the Q4 version should at least match the Jeep's price, if not exceed it, to reflect the more premium positioning. The Junior Q4 will have the advantage of being able to run at low speeds in all-electric mode, which we hope will offer better performance and therefore greater driving pleasure.
Interesting Junior Q4, unless it's with the PureTech hybrid engine.
The PureTech undermines the Junior's reputation.
Above all, they need to quickly bring out a configuration that competes with geely (vol vol ex30, smart #1 and #3 barbus, zeekr 003, ...) or the tesla Y performance, with their 100% electric all-wheel drive that does 0-100 in 3.6/3.7sec, because with the design of the alpha junior, it would become a best seller.
