Stellantis has chosen a single motor oil for all its Citroën, Opel and Peugeot models, including Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

For decades, the various brands now united under the umbrella of Stellantis have followed their own recommendations for engine lubricants. But the automotive group has just taken a further step in its harmonization strategy: from now on, a single family of motor oils will be recommended for all its European brands, from Peugeot to Alfa Romeo via Fiat, Citroën, Opel and Jeep. The announcement was made in a joint press release from Stellantis and TotalEnergies, long-standing partners for over fifty years.

Cooperation extended to all Stellantis brands

Until now, the agreement between Stellantis and TotalEnergies mainly concerned the brands inherited from the PSA Group: Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel and Vauxhall. The new partnership now extends this collaboration to all ten of the Group's European brands: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Lancia, Jeep, Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel and Vauxhall.

In concrete terms, this means that these manufacturers' after-sales networks will use the same engine oils developed jointly by Stellantis and TotalEnergies. This development is in line with the technical harmonization initiated several years ago by the Group, which is already visible in terms of platforms, engines and on-board technologies.

According to Stellantis, these new lubricants meet the group's latest harmonized technical specifications, known as FPW (Factory Filled Powertrain), and are recommended both for routine maintenance and to preserve the manufacturer's warranty.

A single range to simplify maintenance

Over and above the industrial aspect, Stellantis is highlighting a practical advantage for its customers and dealer network. By covering the entire brand portfolio with a single product range, the manufacturer simplifies inventory management, maintenance and servicing procedures.

This new offer comprises two product families: TotalEnergies Quartz MOPAR oils and TotalEnergies Quartz EV3R MOPAR SUSTAINera oils. From now on, they will be the only products officially recommended in the Group's service networks. For Stellantis, the aim is to offer a single solution capable of ensuring the same levels of performance, protection and reliability on vehicles as different as a Fiat Panda, a Peugeot 3008, a Citroën C4 or an Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Behind the motor oil, an environmental strategy

This announcement is not just technical. It is also part of Stellantis' environmental strategy through its SUSTAINera program, which brings together all activities linked to the circular economy.

One of the most interesting aspects of this partnership concerns TotalEnergies Quartz EV3R oil, launched in 2024. Stellantis and TotalEnergies present it as the first engine oil approved by a manufacturer using 100 % of regenerated base oils. In concrete terms, this means that the raw material comes from recovered used oils, then refined and purified to restore the properties of new oil. The aim is to reduce the use of virgin oil resources while maintaining the performance required by modern engines.

For the automotive group, this approach helps to reduce the environmental footprint of the after-sales sector by encouraging the reuse of resources and products from more circular processes. A philosophy that's already spreading reconditioned parts, We are also committed to the development of new products, repaired components, reused parts and end-of-life vehicle recycling.

For owners of Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia or Jeep, the change will probably go unnoticed during a simple oil change. Behind the scenes, however, it reflects the desire to make ten different brands work with increasingly unified technical solutions, right down to the choice of engine oil.

    A single engine oil, given that the 1.2 L PureTech is installed under the hood of all brands. Otherwise, you can't put the same oil in a 3-cylinder engine as in a Nettuno V6.

  2. De oorspronkelijke olie voor die purepech rommel was 0W30 water. Ze zijn toen overgeschakeld op 5W30 die eigenlijk door Total ontwikkeld was voor hun dieselmotoren.
    Dus eigenlijk deden ze dat al quasi.
    Waarom zou je voor een V6 andere olie nodig hebben? Specifiek vermogen en toerentallen zijn gelijk. En of het benzine of diesel is speelt blijkbaar ook geen rol.
    Nu : voor mij is het niet meer belangrijk, want hier komt niets binnen van Stellantis. Je laat je op zo'n manier maar 1 keer vangen...

  3. In any case, the latest models have the same engine, the one that replaced the infamous puretech. The new one is no longer belt-driven, but chain-driven, with other changes.
    From the Alfa Romeo Junior to the 5008, from the Fiat 600 to the Jeep Avenger.
    So it's logical that they use the same oil.
