While this announcement of the new Maserati engine was scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020, Maserati has finally formalized the details of its V6 3.0L 630 hp aka Nettuno !
The Maserati Nettuno is therefore, according to the press release, a new 100 % Maserati engine. It will equip the new supercar Maserati MC20 which will be unveiled in September 2020 but also, according to our information, other future models of the brand such as the future GranTurismo, GranCabrio and D-SUV.
The Trident brand is announcing a patented technical revolution on this engine and 3 innovative features :
- pre-combustion chamber located between the electrode and the combustion chamber;
- side plug to ensure constant combustion when the pre-combustion chamber is not required;
- dual injection systemThis is a direct and indirect way of controlling CO2 emissions and low-speed fuel consumption.
The Maserati Nettuno is therefore a 3.0L V6 90° twin-turbo which offers a maximum power of 630 hp at 7500 rpm, a torque of 730 Nm between 3000 and 5000 rpm and a maximum speed of 8000 rpm. All this without hybridization!
This engine was therefore designed in Modena at the Maserati Innovation Lab. According to us, it is not 100 % new because there is a strong chance that it is declined from the V6 present in the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, itself declined from a Ferrari engine. But this remains to be proven. A comparative table below to better understand the differences between the engines.

What matters in the end are the developments. And, 8000 rpm... it's going to scream 😀
Maserati concludes this announcement with a return of the brand to the world of motor racingwithout specifying which one.
