Lancia Ypsilon: all the photos + 1 video

The teasing of Lancia is completely at odds with the various leaks of recent months. Between photos in the water, then in the factory, here she is pictured in the street on what appears to be a shoot for a commercial.

So here's the photo that was unveiled by the Coche Spias website, enhanced by AI for quality.

Although it looks like a 208, I have to admit - and this is a personal opinion - that it's rather pretty from this angle, and elegant in this color. The wheels look big, 19 or 20 inches, well aligned with the bodywork. Everything is in line with the latest illustrations of the car.

We now have high expectations for the interior, which is a very important Lancia feature. As a reminder, it is due to be unveiled in February 2024 and will be offered with an electric motor and a hybrid internal combustion engine.

UPDATE: as you'd expect, here are some more photos and a video of the Lancia Ypsilon on location for its advertising shoot. Thanks again to Coche Spias!

All we need now are photos of the interior 😉

  1. The rear end is a real eye-catcher. The rest remains to be seen, but Italian designers know how to make cars more beautiful than the rest.

    • Frenchman Frédéric Duvernier is in charge of Lancia's exterior design, reporting to Jean-Pierre Ploué, the Italian brand's design boss. So when it comes to design, he's French.

      • Did you know that the designer of the sublime Maserati Alfieri is French? Yes, under the direction of Ramaciotti, but French. Be indulgent, though. Without Stellantis Lancia wouldn't exist at all.

        • You mustn't exaggerate, because putting a brand on ice doesn't mean it no longer exists.
But since PSA wants to put yes, it's well and truly dead, because there's nothing premium about it.
Perhaps the best thing would have been to bring out an 037 or a Stratos.
I don't believe in this brand anymore.

  2. The Lancia revival is well and truly underway. Italian charm is all there is to cars, and an HF may be on the horizon... To be continued...

  3. It certainly looks better in this photo than the one fished out of the lake. It remains to be seen what the pseudo quarter-glass looks like: it's certainly a tinkering to distance itself visually from the 208 and Corsa, but I hope they've applied themselves...

    • Absolutely! Much more in common with the Corsa than the 208. When they pulled it out of the lake I immediately made the same connection 😉 You stick on two/three bits of plastic reminiscent of the Pura+eco-evo/blabla concept car with a big LANCIA calligraphy, put your butt on alcantara and off you go!!! LOL

  4. Corsa and 208 have the same glazing, I have the impression that they did the same for the ypsilon, anyway for me if it's with a psa engine, it spoils everything.

  5. Très belle , les italiens sont " top " pour les belles voitures ..... pourvu qu' ils nous gardent de vrais moteurs....... et du HF .... non électrique !!!

      • I'd order a Ypsilon HF with a 240 hp internal combustion engine straight away.
But that's unlikely to happen, so we'll have to make do with the electric version.

          • I still have a 240hp Giulietta Veloce. I was thinking of selling it, but I'm keeping it to avoid going electric.
I'm thinking of stocking up on internal combustion cars so that I'll still have some when they're no longer on the market.

  6. It must be pretty, but it's still a 208, which is already far too expensive for what it is. It takes a lot of the charm out of the car, especially since the engines are the same everywhere to make the most profit. Of course, VW does this too, but they have a very different range of engines.
Maybe I'm the one who has trouble with such large automotive groups.

  7. Total surprise in this shot. I'm waiting to see the rest...
As for the French side of the pencil stroke, there's nothing to brag about, Lancia would still exist because the Ypsilon sold better. Studies were supposed to be underway and all FCA projects have been postponed since the merger. Don't tell me they weren't working in Turin....
For the moment, Stellantis owes more to the 500 and Jeep than to Peugeot/Citroën..... And we've just read thatvAlfa is targeting cash flow, margin.......
On the other hand, the French PSA fleet has been renewed, and quickly..... It's an incomprehensible choice for Italians.....

  8. First of all, thanks to Italpasssion for finding this image. Historically, Lancia is a manufacturer that made its name by offering technological advances combined with a refined presentation of its models (just like Mercedes does these days). Today, it's not even a manufacturer copying the best, it's simply a trade name used for marketing purposes. Apart from the logo, there's nothing left... I might as well go and buy two planks of wood at Casto, paint them black, stick "LANCIA" on them, and stick them on the muzzle and tailgate of my Opel Corsa Purtech Sochaux deutsche Ausgabe. I'm sure I'll get the same result :))

  9. The Lancia Ypsilon no longer needs an official presentation, since everything has been revealed, including a video. It's a good-looking car, much better than the Opel Corsa and Peugeot 208. It remains to be seen how it will perform, and whether it will differ from the Peugeot in this respect.

  10. There's a gulf between the concept and the Lancia Cor... Ypsilon. No specific bodywork, no retractable handles like the DS3, it's all DIY with a few lacquered plastics and a garland of lights. They haven't even taken up the idea of the logo on the front door.

  11. As for the "timeless, pure, radical and typically Italian style" announced by Ploué, no comment, no need... After showing the Pu+Ra concept, if they wanted to cut costs and save development time, they had to start from the base of the e-308 with the 240 hp engine, to offer a 2+2 coupé. This would have put the brand right where it wanted to be, in the premium market.

  12. Better than the navy version, but it's nothing to write home about!😏
But Stellantis shareholders have to be kept happy!
    The Asians seem more inspired.
Curious to see it in a configuration less flattering to the eyes and on the streets of Viezon!😁

Note: I have nothing against Vierzon!
