There are Lamborghini which spend their lives in an air-conditioned garage, under a cover, with a few hundred kilometers added each year, and then there's SG54 LAM. A Murciélago a legend in its own right. About 6 months after our previous article on this unique car, And now it's back with a completely new milestone: more than 308,000 miles on the clock, or almost 500,000 kilometers. Yes, a naturally-aspirated Lamborghini Murciélago V12 approaching half a million kilometers.
A supercar that refuses to die... twice
This 2004 Murciélago is probably the exact opposite of the clichéd Lamborghini image. In a recent video published by the Supercar Driver channel, its story is told like that of a survivor. The author of the video below sums up the phenomenon perfectly: «this car completely rewrites the book of supercars you never use».

As a reminder, the story begins 21 years ago, when Simon George bought this Murciélago almost new, which he couldn't really afford financially. To make the purchase viable, he decided to put the car to work. It would be used for track days, where customers paid to take the wheel with an instructor on board. For years, thousands of people drove this Lamborghini. Then Simon George continued to use it on a daily basis, racking up the kilometers at a rate completely absurd for an Italian supercar.
Two accidents, several rebuilds... and still here!
Yet this Lamborghini Murciélago has almost disappeared several times. During its years on the racetrack, a driver ran off the road and into a tree. The impact destroyed the entire front end. The chassis was twisted, and the doors wouldn't even close properly. Many would have given up. But after a lot of money and many hours of work, the car was rebuilt.

And it's not over yet. A few years later, as she was driving down the road, a truck lost a ladder right in front of her. It was impossible to avoid it. The Lamborghini was hit head-on. Another disaster: underbody destroyed, front end damaged, then a nasty surprise after repairs. The V12 had also been hit. Verdict: engine to be replaced. The bill would have exceeded £86,000 (€100,000, 115,000 $). Despite all this, the car is still here today.

500,000 km for a Lamborghini V12
In this new video, the Murciélago now boasts 308,000 miles with 2 engines. That's around 495,000 kilometers. An almost unimaginable figure for a Lamborghini equipped with a naturally-aspirated 6.2 V12. And yet, according to the journalist behind the wheel in the video below, the car remains surprisingly sound. He describes the car as almost like new. He's even surprised by the smoothness of the clutch and the ease with which this Murciélago can be driven, despite its reputation for being intimidating.

This car seems immortal. Over the years, it has changed parts, engines and body panels, but it continues to run again and again. Today, this Lamborghini is better known by its SG54 LAM license plate than by its full name. It has become something of an automotive celebrity.
And unlike many supercars that have become financial investments, this one simply continues to live its life. It drives in the rain, on freeways, on small roads, with no obsession with mileage or resale. The SG54 LAM story is far from over.
