Fiat 500 electric: 2023 sales figures for France

A few days ago, we presented the Fiat registration figures, 40336 cars for 2023 with some uncertainty as to the breakdown of sales by model. We are in a position to provide you with more information since we've received the figures for the Fiat 500 electric and combustion modelsalways for France.

Fiat registered exactly 23635 electric 500s and 8785 combustion 500s, for a total of 32420 500! Two things are worth noting. Firstly, the 500 accounts for 80 % of Fiat registrations. Secondly, the the electric 500 alone accounts for 58 % of Fiat registrations.

These figures confirm that France is the European country that buys the most 500 electric cars, just ahead of Germany.. According to Fiat, the electric version shows an increase of +53 % compared with 2022. But we still wonder what new features the Italian brand will be able to bring to the model this year to maintain this growth.

Let's wait for the European figures for the 500 combustion and 500 electric models...

  1. The 500e is selling well in France, with over 23,600 sales. Having rented it for several days, I found it very pleasant and well finished (much better than the 500 thermal). I can't see what could be improved on this city car, apart from a better range, especially on the less expensive version.

  2. Exactly. I'm keeping my 2022 500 e because I'm disappointed with the colors and finishes offered in 2024. The essence of the fiat 500 was precisely the personalization of its car...too bad.

  3. They can make a 500 Riva and find a partnership with a major fashion house, as the G.Armani pre-version turned a lot of heads... I'm also thinking of replacing the engine block with the more efficient solution developed by PSA if the solution is finally sufficient.

    • The engine is more than powerful enough to win every red-light race, and the range is also sufficient for everyday journeys. psa should have taken everything that was done in the 500e for the 600e, because everything is so much more accomplished in comparison, in terms of functions, finish, interior and infotainment.

  4. Fiat could also equip its electric models with a frunk, and given the small size of the trunk, this would be no luxury for the 500e. Aftermarket offers are available...

    • Not much room left under the hood for a frunk...
A medium-sized caddy fits comfortably in the trunk, and for caddies full to the brim, it's so easy to lower the seats that it's really not a problem on a daily basis.

      • There's room for a cable and a small bag, so they won't take up space in the trunk... Personally, I've placed an order.

  5. The PSA-Nidec engine is designed to be very efficient in the city, which is the 500e's preferred driving range, and in fact the Fiat 600e and other electric 308s score very well between 0 and 80 kph. Of course, the current 500e is a real success, but the group's industrial logic is to share components... Otherwise, I meant to write in the previous message "if production is finally sufficient" (the proofreader decided otherwise), because until now that hasn't been the case. Incidentally, I note that the VAG group has the same problems with engine shortages, so it's possible that the 500e will stick to its own powertrain.
