There are cars that stand the test of time without ever losing their appeal, such as the’Alfa Romeo 8C. Unveiled as a concept car in 2003 before going into production a few years later (read The History of the Alfa Romeo 8C), it is now considered one of the Italian brand’s most beautiful modern creations. And for collectors, a truly exceptional opportunity has just arisen in Dubai: three examples are currently up for sale in the same location, for a total price of nearly one million dollars.
At Tomini Classics, a classic car specialist based in Dubai, there are not one, not two, but three Alfa Romeo 8Cs waiting for a new owner: two Competizione coupes and one Spider.
A Ferrari-Maserati V8 engine
This engine is precisely one of the reasons why the Alfa Romeo 8C is so special today. Hidden beneath its long front hood is the F136 V8, an engine developed by Ferrari and Maserati and then manufactured in Maranello. In this version, specific to the Alfa Romeo 8C, the displacement increases to 4.7 liters, producing 450 ch at 7,000 rpm and 470 Nm of torque. A naturally aspirated engine from a bygone era—with no electric assistance or turbocharger—designed above all to deliver a thrilling driving experience, with a sound that has become one of this model’s hallmarks. This same engine belongs to the large family of Ferrari-Maserati V8s found notably under the hood of certain Maserati GranTurismo models, as well as in different iterations in the Ferrari F430 and 458 Italia. Paired with a six-speed automated manual transmission and mounted in a front-mid position with a transaxle layout, it enabled the 8C to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 292 km/h.
Three very different configurations
The first is a 2010 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, likely the most impressive of the trio in terms of its condition. With only 329 units produced worldwide, this convertible version has just 24 kilometers on the odometer. In other words, it still has its original mileage.

This example is presented in a particularly elegant configuration with a Bianco Madreperla body—a pearlescent white that highlights the lines designed by Wolfgang Egger—paired with a tan leather interior. Delivered new in Hong Kong, this 8C Spider comes with its original accessories, manuals, interior cover, and certificate of conformity. Its price? $330,000.
Next to it is the first 8C Competizione coupe from 2009. Limited to 500 units worldwide, it features the same formula that made this model a legend: a carbon-fiber body, spectacular proportions, and, above all, a 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine assembled by Ferrari, producing 444 ch. This particular example stands out for its rare Azzurro Monaco Metallic paint finish paired with a tan leather interior. With 23,058 km on the odometer, it is listed for $295,000.

The third car is undoubtedly the one that best matches the image many people have of the 8C: a Competizione in Rosso Competizione. This iconic red color is paired with a gray interior and an interesting history, as it is one of the 70 cars originally delivered new to Japan. With 14,100 km on the odometer, this car has a complete maintenance history in Japan and has undergone an annual service since its arrival in Dubai. Its price is set at $300,000.

In total, these three Alfa Romeo They therefore represent an investment of $925,000. That amount would obviously allow you to purchase much newer and higher-performance supercars. But none of them truly offer the same combination: Alfa Romeo’s now-timeless design, a production run limited to just 829 units in total—including both the coupe and the Spider—and a Ferrari-sourced V8 engine.
At a time when Alfa Romeo is facing turbulent times, the 8C remains a reminder of a period when the Italian brand decided to create a car driven solely by emotion. And this trio gathered in Dubai is probably one of the finest examples of that.
