Would Alfa Romeo ever offer a minivan?

Every day or so, we learn new information about the future range of Alfa Romeo. And this time, it's the journalists from Autocar who are sharing some rather unusual information... Alfa Romeo could one day offer a minivan!

In an interview with Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, head of Alfa Romeo design and in particular of the the new 33 StradaleThe subject shifted to commercial vehicles, and in particular to the Alfa Romeo Romeo, produced from 1954 to 1966.

When this subject is raised, Alejandro replies: "It was magnificent [...] In fact, you wouldn't be surprised if it came back one day".

Still, it's puzzling. Either he was referring to the E-SUV, or a minivan model that would arrive much later... Volvo is indeed preparing its EM90 electric minivan, Lexus has its LM, Mercedes its Class V...

In any case, Alfa Romeo has other priorities before releasing such a model!

  1. Alfa Romeo's management, designer Mesonero-Romanos, or Stellantis, have decided to give us comedy sketches over and over again?
If this monospace/minivan/truck/utility project (I don't know what to call it) is true, then the Alfa Romeo brand will no longer be of the slightest interest.
It's time to buy the last real Alfa Romeo, the Giulia and Stelvio, or some old Alfa, because between the B-SUV, the electrification of all future Alfa cars, and PureTech engines in Alfa cars, you might as well say that the brand has decided to destroy itself.

    • Stanislas
If you want to buy a Giulia or a Stelvio, you should try to buy a recently used one? Because the latest news is that they are not affected by the malus, and even cars from Switzerland 🇨🇭.

      • No, I looked it up: any car imported into France, whether new or used, is subject to the malus when it is registered in France for the 1st time. Giulia 2.0 280 hp cars are rare on the French second-hand market.

        • So they finally spent it in France anyway. Distressing. Everything for the rich and the government... nothing for the rest of us. We call this a Pétainist regime, because anyone working in politics or working for them (senior civil servants or others), are excluded from the malus!!!! If that's not a dictatorship... I'm the Pope!

          • Where does it come from, this statement that vehicles "belonging to people working in politics or working for them are excluded from the malus"????

          • On the fact that I work with these people and that they don't buy cars in their name but in relation to their position.... Which changes everything and they're not subject to the malus or taxes of any kind that the French pay. It's disgusting... but that's the way it is.

  2. We agree, as we often do. When you're Alfa Romeo, you offer this kind of model at the end of the construction of a plethoric range, not when you've only got three models in the catalog and a supercar that's already sold out... Or maybe to transport the F1 team's drivers. That'll be 4 examples, thanks for the joke.

    • And again Fredo, normally we'd find this kind of product under Lancia in a Luxury version... but as Alfa started out making utility vehicles "at the request of the Italian State and not of customers" we're going to bring out a product that has nothing to do with the Biscione.

  3. Is the woke wave affecting the Alfa Romeo brand?
I'm afraid so. We will soon have a Citroën AMI disguised as an Alfa Romeo Alfasud. ,,Si,si

    • Since when do decolonial activists order Alfa Romeo to sell electric minivans to Chinese businessmen? In my opinion, it's the reference shareholders who are responsible for this kind of delirium, validated by a complacent head of design. It's not the "woke wave" but the power of uneducated financiers, and my theory seems far more likely...

  4. Then, if it's made on the Grand Cherokee chassis... (like the photo, I think) why not, and it would be more interesting than the VAN they want to release under Alfa, but for that you need the V6.

    • With the aerodynamics of an ice-cream cabinet and a roll rate that would make de Kersauson jealous, I don't really see the point...

      • But that's not at all the case with the Jeep. Try it and then we'll talk. Don't be a child and say it's no good if you haven't tried it.

  5. Finally, what would be great with the Alfa Romeo minivan is that without the rear seats, they'll also be able to occupy the hearses market, like Mercedes.
Although I've never seen a hearse go fast.

    • 😂🤣... I hadn't thought of that.😂🤣
All the more reason not to make a VAN Alfa, which will be a clone of the FIAT/PSA van anyway.
The minivan on the Cherokee with the Giorgio platform... why not, because those who've tried it think it's great.
