Orders have been closed for five years, but Kimera has just delivered the 38th car out of the 37 planned

Just a few days after Delivery of the «ultimate» Kimera EVO37, numbered 37/37—and now the Italian automaker is unveiling a new one. No, Kimera hasn't lost count. This 38th car is not part of the originally promised series and takes the form of a one-of-a-kind model named EVO37 Top Gear Edition.

It’s quite an interesting story. With the Artemide—a stunning black model with bronze rims—Kimera had officially wrapped up five years of production of its flagship model. The 37 EVO37 All the slots scheduled since the project's launch in 2021 have now been filled. But at Kimera, the end of production clearly doesn't mean the end of the story.

An EVO37 created to celebrate an award

This new EVO37 is therefore not a hypothetical 38/38 quietly added to the order book. It is a one-off, built to celebrate the EVO37«s selection as »Performance Car of the Year 2026” by Top Gear. Fittingly named the Top Gear Edition, the car was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is set to be delivered to Max Girardo, a well-known classic car specialist, longtime friend of Kimera, and the brand’s representative in the United Kingdom.

Kimera primarily presents it as the technical culmination of the EVO37. The manufacturer explains that it embodies «the highest level of technical evolution achieved by the EVO37,» without detailing in its press release any mechanical modifications made compared to previous models. The photos, however, reveal a particularly spectacular configuration, featuring a white body, an imposing array of four additional headlights at the front, and a massive rear wing—a look that takes the nods to 1980s rally cars a step further.

37 copies… plus a few exceptions

This Top Gear Edition also provides a better understanding of what Kimera’s announcement of a limited production run of 37 units actually means. This figure refers specifically to the main EVO37 series, which has now been completed. However, there are additional creations that stem from it.

Kimera thus mentions The Martini 7, a short series from the EVO38 paying tribute to Martini Racing’s seven world titles, but also «a very small series of one-offs» designed to celebrate key moments in the brand’s history. The Top Gear Edition falls precisely into this latter category. In other words, while Kimera has indeed produced the promised 37 EVO37s, that doesn’t prevent a few very special examples from joining the family.

And those who thought they could finally close the chapter on the EVO37 will have to wait a little longer. Kimera has already announced a new, exclusive version of the EVO37 before the end of 2026. So number 37 was indeed the last of the 37. But clearly not the last EVO37.
