A Ferrari F80 The car, bearing the number 44, has been spotted several times near Maranello, sparking speculation. Its very distinctive design—with a blue body and several details in the colors of Italy—raises a question: Could this 1,200 HP supercar be intended for Lewis Hamilton?
A Ferrari F80 with a license plate number that’s sure to turn heads
It all begins on September 4, 2026. As all eyes turn to Monza, where preparations are underway for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, the carspotter iliasabawi shares photos on Instagram of a Ferrari F80 spotted near Maranello.

At first glance, this appears to be another example of the Prancing Horse’s new supercar, for which deliveries have already begun. But one detail immediately catches the eye: the number 44, written in white on the front hood. A number that is, of course, inextricably linked to Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 world champion and driver for Scuderia Ferrari. The coincidence is all the more unsettling given that, just a few days earlier, Hamilton had actually been in the news by unveiling his own Ferrari F40, before drive to Monza.
Two months later, on November 4, 2026, the car spotter returned to this mysterious F80 with a new post. While examining his photographs, he noticed a detail he had overlooked: A very thin Italian flag also runs across the roof of the car.

In fact, that’s not the only distinctive feature of this car. Despite the blue protective film still covering several parts of the body, you can make out a paint job that likely comes from Ferrari’s Blu palette, accented with white decorative stripes—the famous dreamlines. The Italian flag also appears on the rear wing, the tips of which feature the inscription “F80” in white. The brake calipers are black, while the Ferrari emblems on the front fenders are painted directly onto the bodywork.
After the F40, has Lewis Hamilton fallen for the F80?
It’s an appealing theory. Last September, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he had become the owner of a Ferrari F40 from 1991, remained idle for more than thirty years. A car he had restored in Maranello before showcasing it at the Italian Grand Prix. The Brit has never hidden his affection for this legendary Ferrari, which represented his childhood dream. But could he also have ordered the brand’s latest supercar? In the past, Lewis Hamilton has owned a Pagani Zonda, a Ferrari LaFerrari, a Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, a Ferrari 599 Aperta, and a Ferrari 599 GTO—cars he has reportedly since sold.
As a reminder, Only 799 units of the Ferrari F80 will be produced, with prices starting at 3.6 million euros (but since then, ads for selling the slots have been appearing with a price of 7 million euros). Its 3.0-liter V6 engine, derived from the one in the Le Mans-winning 499P, is paired with three electric motors to produce 1,200 HP. That’s enough to reach 100 km/h in just 2.15 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h.
Between its No. 44, its exclusive configuration, and its location near Maranello, this F80 has several features that bring Lewis Hamilton to mind. It remains to be seen whether this is actually his future Ferrari or simply a tribute created by another customer of the brand. At this point, there is no clear answer.
