Xiaomi's new SUV is shamelessly inspired by the Ferrari Purosangue

Xiaomi, the Chinese technology giant, continues to surprise with its transformation into a manufacturer ofelectric car. After shaking up the industry with its SU7 sedan earlier this year, the brand is now tackling the SUV segment with the YU7. A model that's been the talk of the town, especially for its design, unsubtly reminiscent of the Ferrari Purosangue.

A big electric SUV

The Xiaomi YU7 stands out for its imposing dimensions. Aith a length of 4.99 metres and a width of 1.99 metres, it is one of the largest electric SUVs on the market. It even surpasses models such as the Tesla Model Y, which measures 4.75 metres. But it's not just its size that attracts attention: the YU7's silhouette, particularly when viewed from three-quarters front, strongly reminiscent of Purosangue, with its long hood and low ground clearance. Xiaomi seems to have taken its cue from Ferrari's crossover design, which perfectly embodies Italian elegance and power.

Ferrari-like performance

Naturally, the YU7 opts for electric power for challenge the Purosangue V12. Xiaomi's SUV will develop 681 hp in its top-of-the-range version, slightly ahead of the SU7, which boasts 673 hp. For an all-electric model, this power output looks promising, especially when compared with the Purosangue's 725 hp. In fact, the torque generated by the electric motors could enable the YU7 to rival the Ferrari's performance, despite weighing 400 kg more. Indeed, the Xiaomi YU7 weighs around 2.4 tonnes, compared with 2.0 tonnes for the Purosangue. It remains to be seen whether this extra weight will affect the SUV's responsiveness and agility. Of course, the feel and sound of a V12, and the luxury and exclusivity are incomparable.

One of the YU7's biggest surprises could be its price. In China, it will be marketed at a much lower price than the Purosangue, with Prices should be well under 40,000 euros, thanks to local government subsidies. If this model arrives in Europe, it will certainly be more expensive, but remains a potentially formidable competitor to luxury models such as the Ferrari Purosangue, whose price exceeds 400,000 euros, but also the Lotus Eletre starting at 100,000 €, and why not? the future Lamborghini Lanzador.

With a solid technical specification and a competitive price, Xiaomi could well succeed in its bid to establish itself on the European market with this electric SUV. The first shots of the YU7 have already aroused curiosity, and the announcement of its production in mid-2025 makes it a competitor to keep a close eye on.

Xiaomi on the road to success?

Xiaomi, through its two models, the SU7 and now the YU7, seems to have found a winning formula inspired by the best in the industry. The SU7 sedan has already made a name for itself in terms of performance and design, but now it's the turn of the YU7 SUV to prove that the brand has nothing to envy from European manufacturers. If Xiaomi succeeds in combining price, performance and technology, the YU7 could well be a commercial success..

  1. They're inspired by (or rather, plagiarize from) the best. The SU7 copies the Panamera, the YU7 copies the Purosangue. The next vehicle will surely copy the 3008 or the Ë-C3. Just kidding.
