The Ferrari F50 embodies Ferrari's most extreme vision of the 1990s. Introduced in 1995, it celebrated Ferrari's 50th anniversary and was the direct successor to the Ferrari F40 in the line of Maranello hypercars. Designed as a road-going Formula 1 car, the F50 adopts a naturally-aspirated V12 derived directly from the Ferrari 641 F1, a carbon monocoque, a manual gearbox, and a removable roof allowing an open-air experience without mechanical compromise. Produced in very limited numbers, the F50 is today considered one of the purest Ferraris ever built.

Owning a Ferrari F50 was one of those dreams so ambitious that you eventually come to believe they’ll never come true. Yet, for just over a year now, I’ve been lucky enough to drive this yellow 1996 F50, and every drive reminds me why this car is considered one of the most special Ferraris ever produced.
I've always loved the F40, but once that dream came true, there was only one logical next step: the F50. For me, it's actually the most fascinating of all Ferrari supercars. Its Formula 1-derived V12 engine, manual transmission, raw character, and rarity make it a truly unique experience.
Mine is even more special because it's yellow. Of the 349 units produced, only 31 were painted this color, and it seems this may even be the first yellow F50 to roll off the Ferrari assembly line.
What I like most is that it’s not just a museum piece. My wife and I drove over 2,000 km on a road trip from Houston to Palm Beach, in both sunshine and torrential rain. This car is built to be driven. I refuse to let it sit idle in a garage just because its value has skyrocketed.
In fact, that’s probably the only thing that sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable. I bought this F50 for around $5 million, and today I’ve received offers exceeding $12 million. It can make you think when you’re out on the road behind the wheel of a car that has become practically irreplaceable. Despite that, I continue to drive it regularly, because the pleasure it brings is worth more than its value on paper.
Behind the wheel, the F50 is completely different from an F40 or an Enzo. The V12 fills the cabin with an incredible sound, and every acceleration is an event. Contrary to popular belief, even the air conditioning works perfectly when properly maintained.
What makes this car even more special to me is the journey it took to get here. I grew up on a farm, raised by my grandparents, without any particular advantages. At a very young age, a poster of a Lamborghini Countach hanging on the wall inspired me to succeed. After leaving college without a degree, I started my own business from scratch. Years of hard work, taking risks, and perseverance finally allowed me to achieve goals that seemed impossible when I was a child.
So the Ferrari F50 is more than just a car to me. It represents a dream come true and serves as a reminder that, with enough hard work and determination, even the most unlikely goals can become a reality.
