Alfa Romeo Junior: new CEO sets ambitious order targets

At the Brussels Motor Show, Santo Ficili, the new CEO ofAlfa Romeoannounced a very ambitious order target for its compact SUVthe Junior. Since his arrival at the head of the brand, he has made no secret of his determination to turn around Alfa Romeo's commercial situation. To this end, he has set a clear objective for Junior: reach a total of 20,000 orders by the end of January 2025.

This announcement comes at a time when, a few months ago, we exclusively revealed that the Junior, launched in April 2024, had not yet found its audience as quickly as its big brother, the Tonale. In fact, for the same period, the Tonale recorded 20,000 orders in just a few months, while Junior had only 10,000half that of its predecessor. A significant difference, which has certainly not escaped the attention of the brand's new CEO.

The target of 20,000 orders, while laudable, seems ambitious at first glance. In October 2024, at the Paris Motor Show, Alfa Romeo announced that it had reached 10,000 orders since sales opened at the end of April 2024. This figure, while solid, still represents some way off the target of 20,000 orders by the end of January 2025, it would take an average of 3 to 4 months to record 10,000 new orders. In other words, the brand needs to accelerate the pace of its sales in a relatively short space of time.

But how does Alfa Romeo intend to meet this challenge? While registrations of the Junior are quite good in Italy and France, the situation is less favorable in other European countries. In Germany, for example, sales of the Junior are in the doldrums, and the absence of the model in the United States, where the Tonale has enjoyed relative success, doesn't help either.

Junior will also have to make a name for itself in the UK marketorders for the electric version have only been open since November 2024. The combustion-hybrid version is expected in 2025. Alfa Romeo will have to rely on key markets such as Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain and Turkey to make up for shortfalls in other markets.

  1. La produzione del Junior va molto lento. Io in la Danimarca devo aspettare consegna maggio/giugno 2025 per un junior ordinato in novembre 2024!

  2. When you see the sales chart, it's alarming... Soon, more Maseratis will be sold than "Alfa Romeos" at 30K.

We really need to get away from Tavares' lamentable wanderings, and as soon as possible!

  3. You'd have to start by offering the Junior hybrid with something other than the PureTech to see potential customers order it.
For the moment, sales of the Junior are disappointing, and the 2 electric models are not doing well.

  4. I'm not disappointed by these sales! They were to be expected and confirm what I thought of Junior. Customers are not fooled...
