A film on the history of the Maserati brothers is in the works, and is already generating a great deal of speculation. After the success of the Ferrari movie (available on Amazon Prime), it's Maserati's turn to have his own biopic, still produced by Iervolino & Bacardi Entertainment.
The film, entitled "Maserati: A Racing Life, will be directed by Bobby Moresco, Oscar-winning co-screenwriter of "Crash" and more recently director of "Lamborghini - The Man Behind the Legend" and "Ferrari". The film will trace the history of the Maserati family, who began manufacturing high-performance automobiles in a garage in Bologna in 1914. As with "Lamborghini", the film is produced by Andrea Iervolino's ILBE group, in partnership with Monika Bacardi.
Producer Andrea Iervolino explained that biopic to focus on Alfieri Maseratiwho died pursuing his dream, although his brothers Ettore and Ernesto will also play a fundamental role. Unlike "Lamborghini", for which he bought the rights from a member of the Lamborghini family, this time Iervolino is basing the story on aspects of the Maserati family that he believes are in the public domain. He is, however, in discussions with the Maserati family and the car company to secure their support.
Shooting of the main scenes is scheduled to take place in Modena between summer and autumn. The region, birthplace of the Trident brand, will provide an authentic setting for retracing the fascinating history of the Maserati brothers and their contribution to the automotive world. Casting is still underway.
Hopefully, like the film "Ferrari", the story is not just about Alfieri Maserati's mistress....
Having seen both, I'm afraid I'll be disappointed too....
