Lamborghini Lanzador: the concept versus the Urus

The brand Lamborghini has unveiled a new concept, Lanzador, which prefigures the 4th model in the range. While we were expecting a 4-seat sedan coupe, it's actually halfway between a sedan coupe and an SUV.

It has to be said that SUVs with coupe-like lines are becoming increasingly popular. and around the world, but rather absent in the luxury car category. Ferrari could have done it with its Purosangue, which has the profile of a coupe, but still managed to integrate 4 doors thanks to its antagonistic system.

The Lamborghini Lanzador is the first luxury SUV coupe with two doors. (3 if you count the boot). But isn't the Lanzador simply a shortened Urus with the two rear doors removed?

Well, not quite. Although the dimensions of the Lanzador concept are unknown, it was shown with 23″ rims. A good basis for comparison with a scaled Urus.

Face to face, we can see that the Lanzador is indeed much lower than an Urus. Even if it's not as low as a Granturismo Folgore, it applies the recipe of a French car, the Peugeot 408, halfway between a sedan and an SUV.

Below is another stylistic exercise to show that the Lanzador is lower, but also shorter than the Urus.

So, which will be the most successful? With this new model, Lamborghini has cleverly positioned itself halfway between a very low coupé sedan and a taller SUV.

The fact remains that the Lanzador is a concept, will be electric, and won't be produced until 2028. Perhaps, for the time being, this is a good way for the brand to take the temperature with potential brand-loyal customers.
