The product strategy of Fiat for the coming years is becoming increasingly clear... but also a little more intriguing. While the Italian brand is indeed preparing two new SUVs, it has also just revealed the name of one of them. And, as expected, it's another animal.
Fiat Grizzly: an official name now... but for which model?
On March 19, 2026, FCA Marketing registered the trademark Fiat Grizzly in category 12, dedicated to motor vehicles. The description leaves no doubt as to its nature: «Automobili; Veicoli sportivi; Veicoli utilitari... »

One question remains, however: which future SUV does this name correspond to? Fiat is currently preparing two major models:
- a family SUV, often nicknamed “Giga-Panda”
- a coupé SUV, known internally as “Fastback” or... already “Grizzly”.”
Is the Grizzly more of an SUV coupe?
For several months now, the name “Grizzly” has been circulating around the coupé SUV project. A model with a new positioning for Fiat, with a clear promise: to offer a kind of accessible fastback SUV, with a very sloping roofline, more dynamic styling and a family format. At 4.4 to 4.5 meters in length, this SUV would be positioned in the C segment, above the Grande Panda, while retaining an accessible philosophy.
It would be based on the STLA Smart platform, with engines that are already well known:
- petrol 1.2 turbo 100 hp
- hybrid 145 hp
- electric (44 or 54 kWh)
And above all, an entry price estimated at between €20,000 and €25,000. All elements that fit well with the image of a “Grizzly”: more imposing, more assertive, but still affordable.
...or the large family SUV?
But don't be too quick to dismiss the other hypothesis. The second model, nicknamed “Giga-Panda”, is also a C-segment SUV, around 4.4 meters long, with up to 7 seats and a clear family orientation. Fiat has already confirmed that this model will be named after an animal... other than the panda.
In this context, it's hard not to make the connection with “Grizzly”, which fits perfectly with this idea of a larger, more robust and more family-oriented vehicle.
A confirmed animal strategy
One thing's for sure: this filing confirms a strong trend at Fiat. After the Panda and the Grande Panda, the brand continues to build a range around animal names. And this is probably just the beginning.
It's hard not to smile when you remember our April fool's joke published a few days ago, In which we imagined a Fiat range based entirely on animal names... including a certain Fiat Grizzly. It's worth noting that in Turin, rumors are rife that a Fiat Koala could actually see the light of day.
Today, only one thing is certain: the name Fiat Grizzly is official. But for the rest, doubt remains. We'll have the answer in the coming months, with a presentation expected in 2026.
Tell me it's an April fool's joke too...
Oh no, I checked, it's April 3 xD
Fiat with animal names, why not? Although I'm not sure Fiat Grizzly wouldn't be mocked. But the engines still seem to be PureTech, but not FireFly!
And electric motors identical to current models.
I think it's a question of timing. If the models are launched in a few months' time, I doubt there'll be a firefly + edct in them yet. They'd already know about it at the Termoli plant...
My guess is that Firefly will gradually replace Puretech.

Is there any point now that they've almost redesigned everything with hard-won experience?
Reliability since 2023 has been good!
It will take at least 2 years to bring Fiat engines up to Euros7 standards.
And as for the Grizzli, it seems to be the Citroen Basalt in a Fiatisé version. Yet another clone.
Yes, that's it.
Specifically, I've just gone to the FIAT website to see the models, and only 3 models are actually... FIAT.
The other 3 are rebadged PSAs.
50% is all they have left...
With this Raton or Grizzly, there won't even be half the range left...
Potté
You seem to have discovered the automotive world!
Not especially, there's a lot of difference between the Grande Panda and the C3, the structure is the same, but the amboutissages and the interior and dashboard are much more successful.
Fiat Grizzly PureTech... more like Fiat Raccoon then.
Now I understand better why in front of the Mirafiori factory there is marked «FIAT SPA» .... animal protection society! 😂

What has the VW Group been doing for over 30 years differently?
Which European country sells the most to the Chinese?
You need to put your own house in order before criticizing.
