Angelelli unveils a 500 HP V6 supercar with a manual transmission, designed to recapture the thrills of a bygone era

Italy certainly hasn’t stopped making people dream. In Rome, the small automaker Angelelli Automobili has just unveiled the Tipo 829, a supercar with a strong personality, touted as having a V6 engine capable of producing up to 500 HP. Inspired by the great Italian sports cars of yesteryear, this new model will be available in three versions, each with a very limited production run.

With its low-slung silhouette, generous rear fenders, gaping air intakes, and butterfly doors, the Tipo 829 certainly doesn’t lack personality. Its lines evoke both certain Lamborghinis and the legendary Lancia Stratos—a reference that looms large in the project’s vision. But behind this spectacular design lies a deeper ambition: to recapture the driving experience of Italian sports cars from a bygone era, while drawing on modern technology.

A project conceived in collaboration with Nicola Materazzi

Behind this new arrival is Davide Angelelli, an engineer and the founder of Angelelli Automobili, an Italian company specializing in automotive design and advanced manufacturing technologies.

The Tipo 829 has a unique history. It is the third installment in a trilogy conceived over the course of seven years of collaboration with Nicola Materazzi, a renowned Italian engineer best known for his work on the Ferrari F40. After the projects Hintegral and Effequaranta, this new creation aims to carry on a philosophy based on lightness, mechanical efficiency, and driving pleasure. To achieve this, Angelelli is relying in particular on a tubular chassis developed using advanced digital design methods and additive manufacturing—in other words, 3D printing. The body, meanwhile, is made of carbon fiber.

Three Personalities, One Supercar

Rather than offering a single version, the manufacturer has designed three variations of its Tipo 829.

The Terra, featuring an elegant blue paint scheme, draws inspiration from the world of rally racing. With its increased ground clearance and suspension with greater travel, it prioritizes traction and agility on rough roads, mountain trails, and even gravel surfaces.

The Strada takes a more traditional approach. Lower and stiffer, it is designed for the road, with the goal of delivering a precise and engaging driving experience. Its spectacular livery, featuring blue and red stripes, evokes the golden age of Italian motorsports.

Finally, the Pista represents the most radical expression of the project. Designed for the racetrack, it features enhanced aerodynamics, a massive rear wing, a specially tuned chassis, and an even greater focus on weight reduction.

Up to 500 ch and a very limited production run

In terms of powertrains, Angelelli announced a lineup featuring four-cylinder and V6 engines ranging from 2.0 to 3.2 liters, producing between 420 and 500 HP. Two transmission options are being considered: a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The manufacturer also claims a 0-100 km/h time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of nearly 290 km/h. These performance figures are still theoretical, as the Tipo 829 remains, at this stage, a concept presented through digital images. Just 4.04 meters long, this Italian car aims above all to win over buyers with its compact size and spirited character.

Production is expected to total 25 units for each of the three versions, for a potential total of 75 cars. No pricing or specific delivery schedule has been announced yet. It remains to be seen whether this appealing concept will make the leap from the screen to the road. While Angelelli’s ambitions are promising, the transition from concept to production will be the real challenge for this new Italian supercar.
