New design director for Alfa Romeo

The game of musical chairs continues since the creation of Stellantis with today Announcement of Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos appointed head of design Alfa Romeo. Before that he worked for SEAT, CUPRA and Renault.

If the Alfa Romeo's design direction was managed by Klaus Busse since 2015 (to whom we owe concept Alfa Romeo Tonale), it is the Spanish Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos who takes over within the Stellantis galaxy. Klaus Busse becomes vice president design of Maserati.

Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos as Alfa Romeo design director: this is good news. He has designed the 4th generation Seat Leon, the 5th generation Seat Ibiza, the Seat Arona and the recent Tavascan and Formentor for the Cupra sports cars. He has also worked for Dacia on the Bigster concept.

One more proof that Stellantis has big ambitions for the Alfa Romeo brand. We will now have to wait a few years before seeing the result. Maybe a new concept next year?

  1. We'll see, no enthusiasm for the moment... The last Ibiza being rather well designed for a city car, the Leon leaving me a bit cold.

    • The design of a car is based on 3 things in my opinion: the artistic direction (here alejandro), the DNA of the brand and then the validation with the management team (Imparato and company). So we'll have to see what will come out in terms of design but Alfa Romeo has a much better DNA than SEAT.
