There's something decidedly incomprehensible about the American market for Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. While some people in Europe spend months looking for the right configuration, in the United States, highly desirable examples continue to be sold at surprisingly low prices. The latest sale is further proof of this. This time, it's a 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio sold on Bring a Trailer for just 38,750 $. Yes, less than 40,000 $ (€35,000) for a 510-hp Italian sedan that the first owner had bought for 90,000 $ (€77,600) new.
A configuration that would be the stuff of dreams in Europe
On paper, this Giulia had everything to seduce. The car boasted around 63,000 miles, or just over 100,000 km, a reasonable mileage for a 2018 car in regular use. But above all, it had a particularly attractive configuration.

The Montecarlo Blue Metallic color immediately catches the eye, combined with a black leather and Alcantara interior with Sparco's famous carbon buckets. The car also featured the Quadrifoglio RWD package with Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, active carbon splitter, carbon roof and 19-inch wheels. Under the hood, of course, is the 510-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. A powertrain that has become a cult among fans of Italian sports cars. And yet, despite all these arguments, the car retails for the price of a well-equipped family SUV.

A discount that's hard to believe
What's most striking is the colossal difference with the new price. This Giulia Quadrifoglio had a price tag of 88,295 $ at the time of purchase. Eight years later, its value has been more than halved. What's even more astonishing is the reaction of American Internet users themselves. In the comments to the advert, several users explained that the final price represented “an excellent bargain” or even “an incredible deal”. But despite this, the bidding remained relatively quiet right to the end. The sale ended at just 38,750 $, after 38 bids.

Above all, this new sale confirms a trend already observed on several occasions: in the United States, Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglios continue to suffer from a complicated image. Many American buyers remain extremely rational when comparing a Giulia Quadrifoglio to a BMW M3 or Mercedes-AMG C63. Fear of maintenance, parts or resale costs continues to weigh heavily on its reputation.

Yet today, many owners are passionate advocates of these models. Several testimonials show that properly maintained Giulia Quadrifoglio can cover high mileage without major problems. This is exactly what we were talking about recently, with this Giulia Quadrifoglio priced at just 24,999 $, despite its low price. over 170,000 km on the odometer.
In Europe, it would probably leave very quickly
Seen from Europe, this situation seems almost unreal. A Montecarlo blue Giulia Quadrifoglio with Sparco seats, carbon-ceramic brakes and its own history at this mileage and price would immediately attract attention on the second-hand market.
In the end, this sale almost always raises the same question: how can a car capable of competing with the best German sports cars fall to such a price level? For less than €35,000, the buyer walks away with a sedan boasting a 510 hp V6 engine and roadholding that has been widely acclaimed by specialists. It's hard not to think that in Europe, such an announcement would immediately trigger an avalanche of messages.
