In the world of Italian automobiles, if there's one brand that manages to create a stir among enthusiasts with every announcement, it's Alfa Romeo. The brand continues to maintain the suspense surrounding the name of its future small SUV, which has been the subject of speculation for several months.

About 10 months ago, Alfa Romeo CEO categorically denies that the new SUV will bear the Brennero namedismissing the initial rumours. This statement directs speculation towards other possibilities.

Recently, a wave of Italian media suggested that the vehicle could be named "Junioran evocative name in the history of Alfa Romeo.

But in an unexpected twist, Alfa Romeo has published a new, enigmatic teaser on its social networks. It features geographic coordinates leading to iconic locations linked to the brand: the Balocco test track, the Stelvio Pass, the Arese Museum and, surprisingly, the Brenner Pass. These clues seem to suggest a possible return to the name "Brennero", contrary to the CEO's earlier assertions.

This mysterious communication strategy is typical of Alfa Romeo, a brand that likes to play with its fans' expectations. By potentially reverting to the "Brennero" name, the SUV would return to a collar name, as with the Stelvio and Tonale.

It remains to be seen whether these hints are a true indication of the final name, or simply a maneuver to keep the focus on Alfa Romeo until the official announcement. The wait won't be long now, since the name is due to be unveiled this month.

  1. Brennero, or Junior, or I don't know what other name, that's not what counts, but the design, the engines, and whether this Alfa Romeo will be a rebadged Peugeot or a real Alfa.

  2. For pity's sake, in Arese, where Busso and Balbiero were born. In a pinch, this name could be used for a V6 or 4-cylinder PHEV sports car in homage to Giuseppe Busso.

  3. I don't see Arese...it's the name of a fabulous polluting V6 that screams death.
    Stelvio already taken.
Balocco...it's a bit "jem'enbalec**"...in France at least, it's ridiculous (but perhaps in the image of the vehicle).
Brennero? It's more plausible, except that Alfa's management has already announced that this won't be the case.

Balecoui**le? Stop it...I'm going to howl with laughter.
