After The Ferrari SC40, followed by the spectacular V40 Designed by Venuum, the legendary Ferrari F40 continues to inspire. This time, it’s a brand-new automaker, Silvestri Automobili, unveiling the MN-40 Tributo—a handcrafted supercar that doesn’t just borrow a few design cues from the Maranello legend; above all, it aims to revive its philosophy.
Behind this project lies a tribute to Nicola Materazzi, the engineer who left his mark on the history of the Italian automobile industry by developing, among other models, the Ferrari F40, as well as the Ferrari 288 GTO, the Bugatti EB110, and the B Engineering Edonis. The name MN-40 thus combines Materazzi’s initials with those of the famous F40.
A Supercar That Goes Against the Grain
At a time when nearly all hypercars rely on hybrid powertrains and pervasive electronics, Silvestri Automobili is taking a radically different approach. Based in Sant’Agata Bolognese, in the heart of Motor Valley, this young company aims to put the driver back at the center of the experience. The MN-40 is built on an aluminum chassis clad in a carbon-fiber body. Under its rear hood sits a naturally aspirated 6.8-liter V12 supplied by an Italian manufacturer whose name has not been revealed (it could be Italtecnica’s V12, without the turbos). It produces 900 ch and 800 Nm of torque, while revving up to 9,500 rpm. The drivetrain also prioritizes driving pleasure with a seven-speed manual transmission supplied by the Italian specialist CIMA, paired with rear-wheel drive. A sequential paddle-shift transmission will be offered as an option, but the spirit of the project remains resolutely «old school.».
The design is inspired by the F40, without copying it
Designed by Italian designer Francesco Rocco, the MN-40 features numerous nods to the Ferrari F40 while retaining its own distinct character. The large fixed rear wing and the three central exhaust tips immediately bring to mind the 1980s supercar.
The rest of the body, however, features a more contemporary design language, with a striking front bumper, large air intakes, and a highly sculpted rear end. Francesco Rocco, who himself announced on social media that he had collaborated on the project with Silvestri Automobili, has created a modern interpretation of the vision conceived by Materazzi rather than a simple replica.
Ultra-confidential production
Silvestri Automobili plans to produce only 15 units of the MN-40 Tributo over a period of three to five years. Thirteen cars will be offered to customers, while two will remain in the manufacturer’s collection. For now, the model exists only as a full-scale static prototype, although orders are already being accepted.
No price has been announced, but with its largely handcrafted construction, carbon-fiber body, naturally aspirated V12 engine, and manual transmission—which has become extremely rare in this segment—the MN-40 Tributo is already shaping up to be a collector’s item.
