Maserati GranCabrio Folgore: introducing the first luxury electric convertible

The Italian luxury car brand Maserati continues to electrify its range with a brand-new model: the GranCabrio Folgore. The first electric convertible in the luxury segment, it's also the fastest.

Iconic design

The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore captivates with its iconic design, where sportiness meets luxury. The vehicle retains the flowing, elegant lines characteristic of Maserati, with an elongated hood and harmonious proportions that underline its dynamic allure. The canvas soft-top, which folds away in 14 seconds even at speeds of up to 50 km/h, preserves a sleek silhouette, whether open or closed.

The interior of the GranCabrio Folgore is a veritable cocoon of luxury, combining high-end materials and advanced technologies. In Folgore versions, Maserati continues to emphasize eco-responsible materials such as ECONYL, a recycled nylon.

Electrical performance

Like the Granturismo Folgore, under the hood, or rather under the chassis, the GranCabrio Folgore is equipped with three electric motors producing a total output of over 1,200 hp and 1,350 Nm of torque in MaxBoost mode. This trio enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.

The advertised range is 420 to 450 km, with fuel consumption of between 22.4 and 23.7 kWh/100 km. The car incorporates 800 V electrical architecture (compared with 400 V for the Grecale Folgore), enabling fast recharging up to 270 kW.

The Maserati press release announces a completely new architecture, but if you read italpassion regularly, you'll know that it's actually the Giorgio 1.5, an evolution of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio platform already used in the new Maserati Granturismo. The weight is rather contained for this type of vehicle: 2,340 kg.

The vehicle's sound is artificial, synthesized by loudspeakers both inside and out.
outside.

Displayed on the configurator from €211,250The Maserati Granturismo Folgore can cost upwards of €230,000 with the addition of options. To date, there's no real comparison to be made, as Maserati is the only brand positioned in this segment. If the Grancabrio was already a very exclusive niche model, this 100 % electric version will probably be even more so.

  1. 1,200 hp for 2,340 kg, that's outrageous, and a powerful audio system to compensate for the lack of noise?
An overpowered, super-heavy car doesn't make you want to drive it. Half the power and half the weight would be much nicer.
It's going to accelerate a lot, but what about the sensations?

  2. The bodywork is magnificent, and will never go out of fashion. As far as the engine is concerned, it will obviously be available as an internal combustion engine, since the low production levels don't have too much of an impact on CAFE regulations. So everyone should be happy, and in the medium term I think multi-energy platforms are the best solution.
