This official Hyundai team has ordered two Lancias prepared for the WRC2 and has just taken delivery of one of them

The Return of Lancia in rallying continues to gain momentum. Following its debut in WRC2 and the first deliveries to customer teams, a new Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale has just joined a particularly noteworthy organization: Friulmotor. This Italian team has also served as the official representative of the Hyundai Rally Team Italia since 2021.

Friulmotor has just announced on its social media channels the arrival of its first Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale. «The newest addition to Friulmotor,» the team simply announces as it showcases the car—still entirely white, equipped with its imposing rear wing, and already prepped for competition. It’s an almost symbolic image: in the workshops of a team with historic ties to Hyundai, Lancia Corse HF’s latest weapon now takes center stage.

From Hyundai to Lancia, without really choosing

However, the arrival of the Lancia does not mean that Friulmotor is turning its back on Hyundai. Quite the contrary. The team announced several weeks ago that the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 would remain at the heart of its Rally2 program, with even new technical upgrades planned.

The two partners have a long-standing relationship. Friulmotor has been working with Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing since 2017 and has, among other things, represented Hyundai in Slovenia and Croatia. In 2021, the team was selected to officially represent the Hyundai Rally Team Italia with direct support from Hyundai Italy.

But Friulmotor has decided this year to significantly expand its lineup. After two Lancia Ypsilon Rally4s, the team has ordered two new Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale cars. The first one has just arrived. This partnership with Lancia is, in fact, not entirely unrelated to the history of the team founded by Claudio De Cecco. Friulmotor worked with Peugeot for many years, notably with a 206 WRC, and later with Peugeot Italy and Peugeot Slovenia. Today, through Lancia and Stellantis Motorsport, it is returning to a technical environment it already knows well.

The Lancia Rally2 is winning over the teams

Above all, this latest shipment confirms the commercial success of the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale. Unveiled to customer teams in late 2025, the car received no fewer than 30 orders in a single day. At €268,000 per unit (excluding tax), this already represented more than 8 million euros in orders.

The Italian Rally2 features a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing approximately 287 ch and all-wheel drive. Above all, it benefits from the expertise accumulated by Stellantis Motorsport and Citroën Racing in the category, particularly with the C3 Rally2.

A few months later, Lancia cars are now a major presence in competition. In the 2026 WRC2 standings, Léo Rossel currently holds fourth place with 64 points behind the wheel of the Lancia, ahead of Nikolay Gryazin, who is sixth with 56 points, while Yohan Rossel is seventh with 52 points.

Friulmotor will therefore receive a car that is no longer just a promise. And the fact that an organization officially affiliated with Hyundai is investing in two examples of the new Lancia at the same time is another interesting sign: the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale is beginning to carve out a serious niche for itself in European rally parks.
