As a child, he couldn't afford to go to the world's biggest auto show; 30 years later, he's going there with 14 Lamborghinis

Thirty years ago, Pebble Beach was nothing more than a distant, almost unattainable name to John Temerian. Back then, the man who would become the co-founder of Curated spent his days in his father’s workshop, sweeping the floor, preparing car bodies for painting, and watching cars being restored. Every summer, the same promise came up: this year, they would go to Pebble Beach. But the trip was expensive, and the family lived modestly. They never made the trip.

Three decades later, the story took a rather dramatic turn. For Monterey Car Week 2026, Temerian didn’t just come to attend America’s most prestigious automotive event. He showed up with Curated and a veritable armada of Lamborghini.

From a family workshop to 14 cars for Monterey

The scene could almost serve as a summary of his journey. Before the start, the transporters are loaded with Lamborghinis: Diablo SV, Countach LP400 S, Miura and other rarities. Temerian estimated the convoy at «about 14 cars.» A few hours later, the trucks began unloading them at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center.

And that's just the beginning. Curated is also setting up its Villa Curated on the famous 17-Mile Drive and organizing a rally dedicated to the Diablo. For The Quail, the company is even bringing together around 18 Lamborghini Diablos, including cars from former customers and a few from its own inventory. It’s a scene hard to imagine when Temerian recalls his first time participating in the event, back in 2019: just one car, limited resources, and, in his own words, an experience that turned into a «disaster.».

The lineup gathered in Monterey is breathtaking. Among the cars on display are a factory-built Diablo SE30 Jota, a Diablo GT, several Roadsters, and an extremely rare Gallardo with a manual transmission in Verde Ithaca, or even the original SE30 prototype. Curated is also returning to California the famous Miura that once belonged to Eddie Van Halen, to mark the model's 60th anniversary.

The week also takes on a financial dimension. At the RM Sotheby’s auction, Four Lamborghinis presented by Curated are setting records, notably with a Countach LP400 S Series 1 that sold for around $2.34 million and a Murciélago SV for around $3.14 million. For him, however, this surge is not merely a matter of speculation: the increase in value also provides an economic justification for the maintenance and restoration of cars that were once neglected.

Pebble Beach, however, remains the true thread running through this story. Curated features a remarkably well-preserved Miura SV there, which retains most of its original paint, its original interior, and documentation detailing its history with exceptional precision.

In the end, it didn’t win its category. But that’s not what matters most. For Temerian, simply getting the car into the Concours d’Elegance was already a victory. He, who once viewed Pebble Beach as an unattainable dream while working as a child in the family workshop, finds himself—thirty years later—at the very heart of the event.
