Ferrari marked an important moment with the announcement of its first 100 % electric car, the Ferrari Elettrica. A moment marked by a presentation date initially scheduled for October 9, 2025. However, as CEO Benedetto Vigna recently revealed, the presentation of this model will be postponed until the following year. While this delay may seem surprising for a brand that usually displays a meticulously controlled schedule, it seems that Ferrari prefers to perfect its model.
Introducing the Ferrari Elettrica: a dish in three stages
Since the beginning of the year, the Ferrari Elettrica has been the focus of attention, with the announcement in February 2025 that the official presentation was to take place in October of the same year. But to everyone's surprise, Vigna revealed a three-stage plan, to gradually unveil the car before its full presentation in 2026.
The process will begin in October 2025 with the first stage of the presentation. This phase marks the start of an emotional and technological journey, as Ferrari unveils the technological heart of the Elettrica. In early 2026, attention will turn to the car's interior, with a preview of the vehicle's design and interior concepts. Finally, in the spring of 2026, the Ferrari Elettrica will be revealed as a complete model.
A major challenge for Ferrari
This postponement may come as a surprise to some, especially as Ferrari is renowned for meeting ambitious launch deadlines. However, the brand seems to prefer to take the time to ensure that this electric model lives up to the expectations of brand enthusiasts and the challenges of the luxury electric car industry.
The CEO emphasized that the Ferrari Elettrica will be "unique and innovative", a masterpiece combining technology, design and emotion. The aim is to maintain the brand's heritage while meeting the demands of today's market. Ferrari has always relied on emotion and performance, characteristics that should be reflected in this all-electric model. However, Ferrari is confronted with questions of adaptation: will the brand be able to meet expectations without losing what makes up its DNA, namely the driving experience and the legendary roar of its combustion engines?
Start of deliveries in October 2026
Another important piece of news is the confirmation that deliveries of the Ferrari Elettrica will begin in October 2026. A year's delay is not really a delay at all, since usually there are several months, if not a year, between the presentation and delivery of a model. For example, for the Ferrari Purosangue presented in September 2022, deliveries began in the second quarter of 2023, i.e. about 6 months between presentation and first deliveries. Ferrari seems to have needed to delay the presentation and production of its electric Ferrari by 6 months.
This postponement, though unexpected, underlines Ferrari's determination to refine this model without haste. The Elettrica is likely to be a model that will go down in the history of the brand, but before we can discover this revolutionary car, we'll have to wait a little longer.
