An Apollo IE Among the Hypercars at the 2026 Zoute Grand Prix

From October 7 to 11, 2026, the Belgian seaside resort of Knokke-Heist hosted another edition of the Zoute Grand Prix. Every year, this prestigious automotive event brings together collectors, enthusiasts, and owners of exceptional cars for rallies, exhibitions, and concours d’élégance.

Among the Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bugattis, and Pagani models on display this year, one particularly rare car caught everyone’s eye: an Apollo Intensa Emozione, also known as the Apollo IE. The hypercar was prominently displayed on a platform at the event, allowing visitors to admire its extravagant lines and its interior, which is largely clad in carbon fiber.

This particular model sported a spectacular dark red paint job, paired with exposed carbon fiber accents and gold highlights. With its massive air intakes, aerodynamic appendages, and gigantic rear wing, it’s hard to go unnoticed! Its appearance was all the more remarkable given that only ten units of this model were ever produced.

780 ch Ferrari V12 engine

Unveiled in October 2017, the Apollo Intensa Emozione marks the return of the German automaker Apollo Automobil, the successor to Gumpert. Its name means «intense emotion» in Italian, a name that perfectly reflects its philosophy.

Because behind its endurance prototype appearance lies a powertrain that’s particularly appealing to Italian car enthusiasts. The Apollo IE is powered by a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 derived from the Ferrari F140 engine, reengineered in collaboration with Autotecnica Motori and HWA AG.

This engine produces 780 ch at 8,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque, with a maximum rpm of 9,000. This naturally aspirated engine transmits its power exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed Hewland sequential transmission. Thanks to its carbon-fiber monocoque and a weight of just 1,250 kg, the Apollo IE is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds and reach a top speed of approximately 335 km/h. Its aerodynamics are equally impressive, with up to 1,350 kg of downforce reported at 299 km/h.

Only ten copies in the world

Developed with the involvement of several specialists, including the Italian firm Manifattura Automobili Torino, production of the Apollo IE began in 2019. Final assembly took place in Affalterbach, Germany, by HWA AG. Priced at approximately 2.3 million euros when it went on sale, production was limited to ten units, all of which were reported to have been sold. This exclusivity explains why every public appearance is a minor event.

Today, Apollo is paving the way for the next chapter in its history with the EVO, but this Intensa Emozione serves as a reminder that the brand had already created one of the most radical hypercars of its generation. And with its Ferrari-sourced V12 engine, it maintains a special mechanical connection to Italian automotive engineering.
