Alfa Romeo Stelvio: leaked images of the new model

Advertising

It's now standard practice at Alfa Romeo. After the leaks surrounding the Alfa Romeo Junior, it's the turn of the future Stelvio to unveil itself prematurely. Expected to be officially unveiled at the end of 2025, the Italian brand's new SUV is making an unplanned appearance through a series of images already circulating on the Internet.

These visuals, much clearer than the first camouflaged spyshots we published in March 2025The latest version confirms several design elements that had been rumored for months.

A new luminous signature confirmed

The rear of the new-generation Stelvio confirms what fans of the brand have been anticipating: the arrival of a triangle-shaped light signature, more pronounced than ever. A nod to Alfa Romeo tradition, brought up to date in a futuristic interpretation. A new rear bumper may be in store for the hybrid version ;).

At the front, the famous scudetto, the central grille with its distinctive design, is still there. It takes center stage, framed by a new arrangement of lights and a central license plate. The front bumper, meanwhile, differs greatly from the renderings imagined to date. It marks a break with the current Stelvio, with a more sculpted, aggressive design.

A sleeker profile with a fastback look

Perhaps the most significant change is in profile. The new Stelvio adopts a longer, sleeker, fastback-like silhouette, while retaining its muscular SUV stance.

This leak largely confirms the aesthetic directions anticipated by rumors and insiders: a more modern, more statutory SUV, which should be based on the Stellantis Group's STLA Large platform. An electrified powertrain range is also expected, with at least one 100 % electric version.

It remains to be seen whether Alfa Romeo will keep to the timetable announced for the end of 2025. One thing is certain: these first images set the tone. The Stelvio is about to embark on a new chapter with style and ambition.

  1. For me, it's a future flop. None of Alfa Romeo's DNA is respected.
The plate on the side = exit (yes, supposedly for NCAP)
The logo IN the scudetto = exit
Nice tailpipes = most likely exit (it's become a crime to make them, by the way)
Real engines = exit (already 100% EV and a 1.6 THP in there will kill more than one)
Stellantis kills the souls of the brands they take over, the only hope being their new CEO...

    • If you don't like the style of the new Alfa Romeo, there's a simple solution: buy an old Alfa Romeo.
I think the design of the new Stelvio is pretty good.

      • Mouais, but it's now Peugeot's sharp-lined design that sets the tone (see 3008/5008 and 408). We've already seen the first example of this with the 2008-based Junior.

        • Indeed, Elkann really did leave everything to PSA, his grandfather must be proud of him...

"In 2021, Groupe PSA will merge with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) to form the new Stellantis Group. Jean-Pierre Ploué will continue to oversee the design of the former PSA brands (Citroën, Peugeot, DS and Opel/Vauxhall), as well as several FCA brands focused on Europe: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and Fiat outside Latin America. The other brands (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM, Maserati, Fiat Latin America) remain under the supervision of Ralph Gilles... "

      • That's what I thought.... So she'll please 🤔😳🙁.... I'm Alfiste by blood....the Junior pleases and sells well even though it's ugly.... The Tonale is 1000 times more beautiful and sells less.... Go figure something out

    • The problem is that you have to put an engine in these Alfa cars. And FCA doesn't have any relevant ones, because their co2 emissions are prohibitive in terms of malus. Without the PSA platforms, Alfa-Romeo would be a dead brand.

      • Puretech engines are not suited to powering an Alfa Romeo sedan or SUV, so PSA's non-electric platforms don't do much for the brand. As far as electrification is concerned, there's still the Tonale plug-in hybrid solution, and in 2025 PSA is going all out for plug-in hybrids. But while it's essential to electrify platforms to pass CAFE standards, it's also essential to offer a conservative design to avoid losing customers. An Alfa has to look like an Italian sports car, and the brand has many iconic markers to achieve this.

      • For the moment, the only Alfa Romeo with the "PSA" platform is the Junior, and it's not exactly a success story.

    • The number plate was originally in the middle before being moved over to the left (due to needing the grill to stop the engined overheating lol).

I agree, I'm not a fan of the stencil design, but you can opt for the more traditional grille.

Yes, it's a shame about all cars being moved away from real engines but it's not manufacturers decisions, they're being told what to do. I'm sure they'd much rather have a real engine.

I think for most brands, it's about making the best of a bad situation.

      Forza Alfa

  3. For me a 3008 in disguise, currently owner of a total.
No alfa personality but more of a Peugeot. Disguised as an alfa

  4. This new opus has lost none of its personality. Following in the footsteps of the Junior, it reinvents Alfa Romeo's aesthetic codes. To discover: engines, quality of finish and driving pleasure. The Tonale will have to evolve if it is to remain worthy of interest...

  6. It looks Korean.
I can't wait for it to come out, so that the current one will be broken on the price level and that will make it possible to buy some 😉

  7. It's not as beautiful as the current Stelvio, which has a real Italian soul. I don't like the new design at all. The front and rear are ugly. It's like Peugeot given an Italian makeover by the Stellantis group.
No Italian soul. The lion 🦁 has totally devoured the snake. Stellantis can change the logo. But where has all the Alfa Romeo design charm gone? Stellantis has totally screwed up all the Alfa Romeo DNA. As for hybrid powertrains, what are they going to come up with? Puretech hybrid.

  8. Let me be clear and concise: sickening.

Journalists are going to do everything they can to make us like it, just as they did with the Junior, but I can't even see an Alfa Romeo in it. It looks like a cross between a 3008 and a DS N°8.

I don't understand why we're going for a typically PSA design (they've got their gimmicks all over the place) when having a vehicle based on a different platform would allow for a different design.

A desire to destroy even the slightest idea of what Alfa Romeo really is (or was)?

  10. It's not certain that this is the definitive model.
I want to say, it's not possiiiiible!
But when we see Junior, we don't know anymore.
If that's the case, I agree with Tibo...
    I7es Bouches d'aeration, c'est du n'importe quoi.
The plate that cuts the end of the triangle!
For now it's just filler, to make the Buzz....
    Still, it's spine-chilling.
Please let an Italian take over the reins....but the design is frozen...

  11. It's true that they're not real esparto.
But real Alfa cars like the Giulia don't sell.
A builder has to make money in today's world.
With anti-pollution standards, it's even worse.
There's no future for the beautiful machines we used to dream about.
Alfa needs to transition and reinvent itself

  14. The literally square trunk cut-out, the raw plastic that wraps around the entire lower part of the car...

This is low-cost design by Peugeot.

Well, I already knew I wouldn't be buying the Junior, now I know I won't be buying the Stelvio 2.

  17. Indeed, the raw plastic rear end looks very PSA/ DCPA, and what can we say about that horrible spade-shaped hood? As for the headlamps, they're rivals for the world record for width?

    That said, I expected worse.

    • Well, frankly, if this rendering is even close to the final model, we've hit rock bottom. Worse, I'm not sure, but that's no surprise. A "Stellantesque" clone based on the hideous 408!

Der sieht aus wie ein Koreaner...schade wenn man denkt es kann nicht schlimmer werden, werde ich immer eines besseren belehrt. Leider geben die Franzosen Plattformen nichts besseres her.

  19. Too angular & aggressive and more akin to Japanese design. Stelvio should be sleek and curvaceous and that rear light is totally out of place on an Alfa.

  21. Bof full of borderline hateful comments. But it makes me smile, because I remember very well the flood of negative comments about the current Stelvio when it came out! Strange, but nobody seems to remember "it looks like a Hyundai, a Cayenne with an Alfa grille, too big and heavy...etc.". But the Stelvio is far from being such a big success (60% of the target achieved commercially) in the end. What shocks me, however, is that the new Stelvio is simply huge! Never mind the shape. Tastes and colors

    • As far as I'm concerned, the design is unbalanced and missing at least the trilobo grille. The RGB LED garland at the rear must not be my core target (but given the average age of customers, I doubt it will appeal to them). And I was an instant fan of the Stelvio, it's magnificent and much more statuesque than this new model. Even the Tonale has potential, bearing in mind that by 2025 the brand will be obliged to have SUVs in its range.

  24. Please, sell Alfa Romeo and Maserati to Ferrari or BMW or whoever, so that these 2 brands can regain their former prestige. Stop the massacre with your collaboration with PSA, which is only harming Alfa and Maserati...and even Fiat!
