Alfa Romeo: sales by country for the first half of 2023

The Tonale is now well underway, the 33 Stradale has sold well, and the brand is on the move. Alfa Romeo is finally profitable. But what does this mean in concrete terms? What are Alfa Romeo's top countries and, conversely, what are its flops?

That's what you'll discover below, Alfa Romeo registration rankings for the first half of 2023.

Top 5 countries where Alfa Romeo achieves its best sales are Italy, the USA, Germany, France and Spain. Turkey, Belgium, Japan and Switzerland also score well.

Countries with the most disappointing sales figures are the UK, with just 700 registrations in 6 months, and China, although missing a month, is just over 300 registrations away from the 2019 sales peak of 8940 units.

Now that we have all the registrations, we have revised our sales table. Alfa Romeo, which enjoyed a good first half of 2023 We do our meaculpa! It is, however, highly dependent on Italy, which accounts for almost 15,000 of the 36,000 registrations... And of these 15,000 registrations, just over 10,000 are Tonales... but that's for another article!

We don't yet have all the figures for July and August 2023. Nevertheless, from what we can see, they are encouraging for the USA (where the Tonale is starting to be marketed), but disappointing for Italy, France, Spain... After all, these are summer periods, so sales will surely catch up in September.

  1. Uh... you're sure about Switzerland, because the Giulia and the Stelvio like the 4C... we see them everywhere and not just a little.🤷🏻‍♂️
    So I don't quite understand.

  2. In any case, for sales to rise, it would have been necessary:
Keep the manual gearbox, have a station wagon and, above all, upgrade it every year.
Now, with future products, sales are likely to plummet, and that's going to hurt... very, very badly.

  3. Hi,

I own an Alfa Romeo Tonale Spéciale and I'm very happy with it. Is there a web site that talks more about it, or even lists the recall campaigns and updates to be carried out? Would there be an Alfa Romeo forum where we could chat about one model or another?
    Thank you
    Thiée

  4. I'm interested in the Tonale hybrid rechargeable 190 hp which has been out now for 3 months; but nobody talks about it I don't have the impression that it has arrived in dealerships no test published in the press; I'm wondering if it really exists or if alfa wants to sell it too bad it's probably a good alternative even if its price remains high

  5. In recent decades, we've been very worried about the future of the brand and which group would take it over. Sergio Marchionne gave us hope! Carlos Tavares, a visionary, could have done even better, but he didn't count on entrusting the brand to that Peugeot salesman Imparato, who thinks he's original by betting on the electric 100% (even though his own boss has his doubts and is shutting down factories to produce electric vehicles), and will sink the cloverleaf in no time. The only thing left to do is to keep his internal combustion model as long as possible.

  6. So sad to see South African Alfa Romeo sales figures - I remember that in the late 70's to mid 85 Alfa Romeo sales were in the region of 500 to 800 per month, then Fiat stepped in and Alfa Romeo was shut down in South Africa in 1985 - in the early 1960's Alfa Romeo's were assembled at the M-Benz factory in East London and later moved to the Datsun factory before setting up their own assembly plant in Britz - I visited Cape Town in late 2023 where we visited a local Alfa Romeo dealer - they had no show room stock available plus the dealer/salesman wore a China branded motor vehicle golf shirt, what more can I say
