The Brussels Motor Show, which opened its doors on January 10, 2025, is an opportunity to discover several new products fromAlfa RomeowhoseAlfa Romeo Junior Q4. This four-wheel drive hybrid model completes the Junior range, which already includes hybrid and electric versions.
But what we were really looking forward to was the price. December 2024, we had suggested a rate of around 34 000 €In fact, it's the first time we've seen such a thing, given the specific features of this version, including all-wheel drive and its advanced technologies. Well, a month later, the reality is a little different.
A higher price than expected
The Italian media Autoappassionation site in Brussels, revealed that the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4 price for the Belgian market would be 36 700 €. So it's a difference of €2,700 compared with our initial forecasts. An increase that may come as a surprise, especially as its cousin, the Jeep Avenger 4xe, retails in Belgium for €31,000.
As a reminder, the Alfa Romeo's Q4 transmission is inspired by the one already used on the Jeep Avenger 4xe. It intelligently redistributes torque between the front and rear axles, providing better traction on difficult terrain. What's more, the Power Looping systemwhich optimizes energy management according to driving mode, helps reduce emissions and improve vehicle efficiency.
Although it's based on the same CMP platform as the Jeep Avenger, the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4 remains a sportier model, with enhanced performance compared with the basic 136 hp hybrid version.
A price that may fluctuate depending on the market
It is important to note that this 36 700 € specifically concerns Belgium, where the VAT rate is 21%. In countries like France, Italy, Germany or theAustriathe rate could be between 36,000 and €37,000The price of the Jeep Avenger is determined not only by local tax adjustments, but also by commercial choices made on a country-by-country basis. To take the Jeep Avenger 4xe as an example, it starts at €31,000 in Belgium, €32,750 in France, €31,950 in Italy and €33,600 in Germany.
The Alfa Romeo Junior Q4 comes at a higher price than expected, but it remains to be seen how the market will react to this new model, which Alfa Romeo sorely needs. to boost sales in 2025.
All of Stellantis is losing market share (in part) because of stratospheric pricing, so why change policy?
36K a small 3-cylinder PureToc SUV? No problem, at Stellantis we like to hit the wall!
They have been at this for year...
A Stelvio QV for 90K USD...INSANITY.
EVERY model has been 12-15k USD above what it should have been.
This is what you get for being stupid.
Power is said to rise to 145 hp with the small electric motors. The Junior Q4 is going to rock when it comes out of the toll booths!
I've asked for confirmation several times: the power of the combustion engine and the electric lights do not add up. The two electric motors are supporting the rear axle, not adding power.
The 136 hp Hybrid version features an electric motor with a total output of just over 20 hp, but with a permanent availability of 14 hp. The 136 is therefore closer to 150hp. The permanent torque provided by the electric motor is 20Nm, giving a maximum cumulative torque of 250Nm.
But the Group does not add up the power of the combustion and electric motors or the torque values, whereas BMW does, for example: the X1 20i is equipped with a 3-cylinder 1.5 Turbo producing 156hp and 250Nm of torque and an electric motor producing a maximum of 24hp but 14hp permanently, and this 20i version is announced as producing 170hp and 280Nm of torque...
I also saw this on the Italian videos. However, on the Stellantis website they talk about 136hp.
That's because they didn't ask the brand for confirmation, which I did before publishing my article a month ago.
Great job, thanks 😌
Between what I'm told off the record, and the official announcements and confirmations from the brands, I try to do my best...
Thanks for the info. Several Italian videos talked about 145 hp, they did not inquire.
Seriously?
Who didn't see this coming?
I have been saying for years that Alfa Romeo has been pricing itself out of its category. It is not in the same category as a Maserati.
The stelvio and tonale were both priced 12,000 US Dollars above where they should have been, some models were price even $20,000 above where there should have been.
This cannot end well for Alfisti's.
All of Stellantis was run like that by Uncle Scrooge.
He wanted to combine the principle of low-cost and the principle of pricing power. In other words: selling shit at the price of gold.
We ALL knew it would go into the wall...
136 puretec hp will barely be enough to pull the hybrid battery. All for 36k and made in Poland by Peugeot... if only it could look good, but no... In short, it won't be alfists (like me) who'll buy it, so who will?
Beautiful
