This owner is selling this one-of-a-kind car: based on a Maserati, there were supposed to be 15 of them, but only one was ever built

Some automobiles go far beyond the status of a mere car to become true works of art on wheels, such as this Maserati Sciàdipersia Coupé, a creation by Touring Superleggera, a one-of-a-kind example of which is now being offered for sale by Colombo & Co.

Built in 2017 and with just 11,700 kilometers on the odometer, this exceptional car is based on a Maserati Granturismo and is therefore powered by the famous 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, paired with a ZF automatic transmission. With 440 ch of power, it combines the performance of a classic Italian GT with the craftsmanship of one of the peninsula’s most prestigious coachbuilders.

A modern take on Italian grand touring

The Sciàdipersia was born from a simple idea: to reinterpret the aesthetic codes of the great Italian GTs of the 1970s without falling into today’s trend of stylistic excess. Touring Superleggera has thus created an elegant silhouette, characterized by a long hood, remarkably understated flanks, and an imposing rear end that reinforces its prestigious presence. Every detail of the bodywork reflects the craftsmanship of the Milanese coachbuilder. Polished aluminum elements are paired with hand-finished satin finishes to create a subtle interplay with light.

Inside, Touring has prioritized light and space. Despite its coupe-like profile, the Sciàdipersia seats four comfortably and features an expansive glass surface as well as a large glass roof, creating a particularly bright and airy atmosphere. This particular model comes with a complete set of custom-made luggage upholstered in the same blue leather as the interior.

A Tribute to the Legendary Maserati 5000 GT

The name Sciàdipersia was not chosen at random. It refers directly to one of the most prestigious Maseratis in history. In 1958, the Shah of Iran—a car enthusiast and a favored Maserati client—asked the Modena-based automaker to build him a truly one-of-a-kind car. Maserati then installed the engine from the 450S race car into the chassis of the 3500 GT, while Touring Superleggera designed an exclusive body. Named the 5000 GT Scià di Persia, this creation instantly became one of the most exclusive GTs of its era. Nearly sixty years later, Touring Superleggera sought to pay tribute to this historic model with a contemporary interpretation that captures the same spirit of elegance and exclusivity.

Unlike Touring Superleggera’s initial project, which envisaged a very small production run of 15 units, the car on offer today is presented as a true one-off—that is, a unique vehicle built specifically for its owner. This is the same car that was displayed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This exclusivity, combined with the now-discontinued Maserati naturally aspirated V8 engine, makes this Sciàdipersia a particularly desirable car for collectors. The price has not been disclosed and will likely be provided only to genuinely interested buyers—a common practice for this type of exceptional automobile.
