To get the most powerful new Lamborghini, he had to buy the less powerful version—which he didn't want—and sell three supercars.

Get a Lamborghini Buying a limited-edition item isn’t always as simple as placing an order and waiting patiently for it to arrive. For certain highly coveted models, being a loyal customer of the brand can make all the difference. Jason Girdner, known on Instagram under the username «t3cobi,» has just provided a rather spectacular example of this: to secure an allocation of the new Lamborghini Revuelto SV, he explains that he purchased a Revuelto on top of that… and having parted ways with three of his supercars.

An astonishing move, especially since the American himself admits that the classic Revuelto wasn't necessarily the Lamborghini he'd dreamed of.

A Revuelto purchased to get the Revuelto SV

It all begins a few weeks before The Official Unveiling of the Revuelto SV. Jason Girdner announced on Instagram that he had bought a new Revuelto, but more importantly, he revealed the real reason behind the purchase: «I bought another Revuelto to secure a Revuelto SV allocation»—in other words, he bought another Revuelto to secure an allocation for the upcoming SV. And he doesn’t hide his reservations about the 1,015 ch supercar. While he finds it beautiful and fast, he believes it’s too heavy and that its suspension isn’t firm enough given its weight.

That’s exactly where the Revuelto SV really comes into its own. Unveiled a few days later by Lamborghini, it takes the formula much further with 1,065 ch—an additional 50 ch—but, more importantly, with significant improvements to the chassis, weight, and aerodynamics. Notably, the SV features manually adjustable passive dampers inspired by racing and generates 80 % of additional downforce compared to the Revuelto. Lamborghini also claims 17 % more agility and 10 % more lateral grip. Exactly the kind of improvements Jason Girdner seemed to be waiting for.

Three supercars were sacrificed in the operation

But buying a second Revuelto was clearly only part of the effort required. To make this purchase, the collector explains that he sold three cars: a McLaren, a Lamborghini Huracán STO, and a Porsche 911. «That’s the sacrifice you make to get a special limited-edition car,» he summarized on Instagram.

The word «sacrifice» is obviously relative when talking about a garage full of supercars, but the story shows above all just how far some customers are willing to go to get their hands on the most sought-after Lamborghinis.

The Revuelto SV will be limited to 1,963 units, in reference to the year Lamborghini was founded. With its naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 paired with three electric motors, it produces 1,065 ch and can reach 348 km/h. It has also already set a lap time of 1 min 41.6 s at Hockenheim with Marco Mapelli at the wheel.

He's now going to set up his Revuelto SV

So it seems his gamble paid off. Jason Girdner claimed to have secured his allocation and planned to fly to New York to personally configure his future Revuelto SV. To do so, he had to buy a Revuelto he didn’t really want and remove three supercars from his garage. It’s a strange way to go from 1,015 to 1,065 ch, but in the very exclusive world of Lamborghini limited editions, simply being able to pay for the car is clearly not always enough—you still have to earn the right to order it.
