Fiat Grande Panda: could it be even cheaper?

Fiat recently unveiled the pricing and engine options for the new Fiat Grande Panda. What if, in reality, the Fiat Grande Panda could be even more affordable than it already is? Here are the details of this new hybrid and electric version of the Grande Panda, with a particularly attractive price tag - but one that could surprise even more.

Fiat Grande Panda official price list

The orders for the all-electric version of the Fiat Grande Panda are now open and the car is now available for sale in all European countries. This includes both the hybrid and electric versions of the little city car.

Prices are competitive, although they vary slightly according to local taxes in each country. For example, in Italy, the price of the Pop hybrid version starts at €18,900, while in Belgium it reaches €18,990. The Icon version, which is slightly higher, is priced at €20,400 in Italy and €20,900 in France.

Competitively priced, but could be even more so

The price of €18,900 for the Pop hybrid version is an attractive price for a 100 hp hybrid engine in a compact 4-meter-long format. Indeed, this version remains a good option for those looking for a practical vehicle, while maintaining a reasonable budget.

However, the question remains: why not offer an even more affordable petrol version of the Fiat Grande Panda? Indeed, the cousin of the Citroën C3, with a non-hybrid internal combustion engine, has a starting price of €15,240 in France. This lower price seems to make the Fiat Grande Panda a relatively expensive car, despite its size and advantageous features.

Why doesn't Fiat offer the non-hybrid petrol version?

The reason is simple: Fiat already has another Panda, the 70 hp petrol Fiat Panda, priced at around €15,000. The "classic" Fiat Panda made in Italy already exists at this price, and to avoid confusion or internal competition, Fiat has decided not to offer a 100hp petrol version of the Grande Panda.

So as not to clash directly with the current Panda, Fiat has decided not to offer a cheaper, non-hybrid 100 hp Grande Panda in the catalog. A possible solution might have been to offer the Grande Panda 100 hp at a price between €15,000 and €18,000, and to slightly lower the price of the Panda 70 hp hybrid, which in 2023 was around €14,000. But who knows, maybe Fiat is already thinking about it?

    Ciao!
