The year 2025 is definitely the year of big announcements for Ferrari. The Maranello-based brand had promised six new models, and it has kept its word. After Ferrari 296 Speciale unveiled in Aprilthen thehe Ferrari Amalfi presented in JulyNow it's the turn of an even more eagerly-awaited novelty: the replacement for the SF90 Stradale. The event is set for September 9 in Milan.

The SF90 Stradale: 1000 hp... but not enough?

When Ferrari launched the SF90 Stradale in 2019, the automaker struck a major blow. With its 1000 hp V8 hybrid, the supercar marked a technological milestone and ushered in a new era. It became a showcase for the Scuderia's technical know-how applied to the road.

But six years later, the competition is fierce. Lamborghini, with the Revuelto and its 1015 horsepowersets the bar very high. Ferrari had to react... and that's exactly what it's about to do.

Make way for the SF90 M, or perhaps a new name?

According to initial reports, the new Ferrari would be known internally as the F173M project, and would be designated as a "replacement", in other words a replacement for the SF90, rather than a simple facelift. It could retain its SF90 name with a new letter, like SF90 M, but Ferrari could also choose to give it a completely different name, like the Roma that became Amalfi.

One thing is certain: this supercar promises to go further than its predecessor. The hybrid V8 is said to have been redesigned and optimized, with combined power well in excess of 1,000 hp. Which, we imagine, will outperform the Lamborghini Revuelto.

Mechanical and aerodynamic optimization

In addition to the extra cavalry, Ferrari is also working on efficiency. The prototypes, recently spotted camouflaged under black covers, reveal extensive work on aerodynamics. Even the rims were concealed, a sign that every design detail is important.

In support of this move upmarket, Ferrari refers in its communications to "a new way of defining road control". A phrase with marketing overtones, to be sure, but which suggests that the brand is not content with a simple gain in power: the new SF90 is intended to be an absolute benchmark in terms of performance and handling.

Rendezvous in Milan

Ferrari will unveil the new car in Milan on September 9, 2025. We can't wait to find out whether the 2019 icon will continue to be known as the SF90, or whether Maranello will surprise us with a completely new name. One thing's for sure: in a few days, we'll discover a Ferrari hybrid supercar with over 1,000 horsepower, ready to make history and take on its direct rival, the Lamborghini Revuelto.
